Henriques Street used to be Berner Street, & Elizabeth Stride was murdered in a gated yard called Dutfield's Yard that was on Berner Street on September 30 1888.

Using an approximate two week highway closure, WSDOT contractor crews from Strider Construction are working 24/7 to place a new larger culvert under SR 532 to improve the fish habitat through Church Creek.
Not sure if this strider is done with the little bug on the left, if it hasn't noticed it yet, or just doesn't care for it, but bugs that fall into the water are what they eat. This is late afternoon, and the angle of the sun made for this interesting effect.
The Gerridae are a family of insects in the order Hemiptera, commonly known as water striders, water skeeters, water scooters, water bugs, pond skaters, Jesus bug, etc. I found little information on the various species, so it's likely they are all very similar and that actual differences are complicated for the lay person to determine...
on iNaturalist some suggested something closer, Tribe Gerrini, not sure what that means...
Stride students prepared a lunch for special guests at Central Campus before giving a presentation thanking them for attending on Monday, November 18th.

A Water Strider is able to run on top of water due its ability to distribute its weight over a large area and the surface tension of the water.
My Lego Technic version of this amazing creature is motorised and is able to walk on land using it's long legs, and with the assistance of some extra flotation, it is also able to swim in water.
While this model was designed a few years ago now, it still remains as one of my favourite models that I have built.
