Parts of the Disney movie "Flipped", to be released in 2010, are being filmed in my hometown of Manchester, Michigan. Rob Reiner is the director.
This was McElliot's Ice Cream Parlor where some of the filming took place on July 27, 2009. Everything you need to make an ice cream parlor and candy store complete. I drove by here again two days later and this store front was emptied out, ready to resume its former life.

This roll of film was an experiment. I know that heat damages film and people say to always keep it in a cool place. So I did the opposite of what people say and I stored the already expired film in my truck, on the dash for one year, to see what happens.
I got grainy, underexposed (later lightened up on the computer) photos with fun color shifts! Yay! I personally am happy with the results!

While exploring Moraga, CA, we stumbled across this big shopping center with a few remaining mostly intact 50s storefronts and this stunning theatre with animated neon sign!

Of course, the few remaining non-urban-renewed storefronts near the Poughkeepsie waterfront are completely occupied. I find this block interesting, as it corresponds with the progression of Hudson Valley migration. Two Italian restaurants are located to the right, then a Jamaican restaurant to the left and, in the center, a trendy recent addition (Soul Dog, I recommend it) with numerous vegan and gluten-free options, along with creative hot dog toppings.
So here's the nice ceiling of the interior of a storefront in Waynesburg. I can't believe there's barely anything tagged with "tin ceiling."

In Shinjuku. A woman who is checking the condition of the durian by falling down at the same angle as the many durians lined up in the storefront of the fruit shop.

This storefront was just gorgeous... aside from probably missing flooring (tile or terrazzo, I guess.) Next door was a totally awesome vintage barber shop in A-1 original mintyfresh condition, however, I was too chicken to photo it, as Mr. Barber was right in the window cutting hair... so I'll have to wait and get it another time. T__T
A lot of the buildings in Bodie are simple shacks but someone put design effort into this one - a little Victorian charm even out in the middle of the desert!
