keep it fresh :-)

Jp showed off Zombicide, a Kickstarted board game he backed during one of the gaming nights we had in Ireland. The game looked nice, and the quality of print and pieces were incredible, but I was most impressed by his storage solution for all the parts. This fishing tackle box looks like it was designed for this game alone! It's perfect.

I got a new storage system from IKEA for my glass. I love having a separate area for each color, makes it a lot easier to see what I have. I'd like to get another for the other wall, since the metal one doesn't have enough room.

A day we have been waiting for! This is “launch day” for the Khare Drinking Water Project – and we head off from Kathmandu for the groundbreaking ceremony in the village. Khare is less than 100 km from Kathmandu, but the last 25 km is a bone-shaking, 1.5 hour ride in a 4 X 4, guaranteed to take any excess fat off the hips.

Members of the Bethany Baptist Church in Puyallup, WA and Medical Mercy are sharing funding for this project. The work is being organized and managed by MMC.

Women and children in the village spend a minimum of three hours each day carrying water cans up a steep trail to their homes from two springs located 450 ft below the village. When the project is completed in two months, an electric pump will lift the water via a pipeline to a storage tank above the village. From there, the water will be gravity fed through two pipelines from 3 storage tanks to 14 tap stands, each one serving a group of nearby homes.

While the men were pleased about the development, it was easy to understand why the women had the broadest smiles! The village residents are contributing volunteer labour to the project to keep costs down and maximize benefits. Ongoing maintenance of the system will be the responsibility of the Villager’s water management committee.

One of the small bedrooms in my house was remodeled by us to hold all of the small parts. All the design work was done by my wife with the exception of the decision to use the sterite drawers and their arrangement, and the brick crown molding, which I conceived and executed.

The work on this room (and all of our Lego Storage even areas not shown) was completed between mid Feb and mid May 2012.

I superglued the dowels in place but the silvercloth is just laid in place and tacked down with double stick tape on each end. That's really all it takes to do the trick.

I was happy to find these dowels with a rectangular profile but round ones would also work and could effectively be glued down on their ends. These pieces that define the troughs are not under much stress.

A friend was browsing my Stormtrooper photos and asked me how I manage to store and transport my suit. Since I was packing everything up again for another event, I took a quick picture of the contents, highlighting as much as I could. What you don't see in the box is the abdomen, which is sitting on the couch. The little box that's buried under the gloves is my Emergency Kit, the name states It's purpose.

www.recyclart.org/2012/09/plastic-bottles-for-storage-con...

And the fun just keeps on comin'... When I came up with the idea of using plastic cold drink bottles for tea, coffee and sugar cannisters, so many other ideas popped into my head that I just had to give them all a try. This one repurposes plastic bottles into piggy or cow saving banks.

There are two different designs shown. On the left is the cow bottle and for this one the lid fits over the top of the bottom section and can easily be removed. The piggy bank on the right has a lid that also sits on top of the bottom section, but it is a much tighter fit and is not as easy to remove.

Both designs were painted with Rust-Oleum 2X satin spray paint and then the details added with acrylic craft paint. There is no limit to the designs you can put onto your bottles... go crazy with your imagination or let the kids decorate their own.

I would like to have a wooden storage box, but it is hard to come by. I found a paper box in the store last week and though it is a perfect size for my needles and other little things.. I am thinking my spring cleaning isn't finish yet??!!

This seemed to be the spot where surplus cannonballs, gunpowder, and other materials were stored. Thought it looked interesting from the inside.

During WW2, the storage bunkers were used to store things like food, water, and documents. They were weather proof, heat / cool consistent and had their own air circulation system. Anyhow, one of the bunkers also was supposed to have had celophane films of various things. (not sure what).

Anyhow, when the Soviet Army invaded Berlin and liberated the airport, they couldn't get into some of the storage bunkers. Thus, they decided to blow up the steel doors to get access. This resulted in a fire that burned very hot - for several days.

While they don't know if anyone was killed, and the cello film was destroyed, these bunkers are still there and available for us to explore.

They've not been repaired, the black smoke/heat can be seen from the fire (it collapsed the concrete in places and twisted the steel reinforcing rods) and the warped doors are not all in their hinges. Strangely, they re-wired the lights - which are the only "repair" made.
