One of the small bedrooms in my house was remodeled by us to hold all of the small parts. All the design work was done by my wife with the exception of the decision to use the sterite drawers and their arrangement, and (as you will see in other images) the brick crown molding, which I conceived and executed.

This seemed to be the spot where surplus cannonballs, gunpowder, and other materials were stored. Thought it looked interesting from the inside.

OK so I did go and get these sets of Martha Stewart's collapsible boxes. I had the bottom two and the top one and they lasted a year, so I went back to get another set (of 3). Lo and behold they were out! Oh no! Now what? I have hit the thrift stores for weeks looking for small suitcases to no avail. So then I went into the underbed storage area and found these three M.S.'s with little windows all same size. Tah Dah, it's stacked and ready. Top is not full! From bottom to top holds: table runners, rescued quilt squares, damaged vintage linens to recycle, quilt squares to recycle, and the like; baggies of color coordinated CQ scraps of material; doiley's and scarves; kitchen linens old and to recycle, vintage ones in good condition, dresser scarves, napkins and tea towels; handkerchief collection; it's rather lonely at the top as it's empty with no friends to keep it company!
During WW2, the storage bunkers were used to store things like food, water, and documents. They were weather proof, heat / cool consistent and had their own air circulation system. Anyhow, one of the bunkers also was supposed to have had celophane films of various things. (not sure what).
Anyhow, when the Soviet Army invaded Berlin and liberated the airport, they couldn't get into some of the storage bunkers. Thus, they decided to blow up the steel doors to get access. This resulted in a fire that burned very hot - for several days.
While they don't know if anyone was killed, and the cello film was destroyed, these bunkers are still there and available for us to explore.
They've not been repaired, the black smoke/heat can be seen from the fire (it collapsed the concrete in places and twisted the steel reinforcing rods) and the warped doors are not all in their hinges. Strangely, they re-wired the lights - which are the only "repair" made.

HOLY ISLAND HARBOUR Holy Island harbour is characterised world-wide by pictures of the large, upturned fishing boats lining the beach. Now no longer seaworthy and used as work sheds for the small remaining seagoing fraternity, many of these boats were part of one of the largest Herring Fleets to sail off the east coast of England.
The fishing fleet operated from Holy Island harbour up until the turn of the 19th century. It is often claimed (and even more often contested with nearby Craister!) that the first oak-smoked Herring was prepared in the adjacent Herring Houses.
In more ancient times, naval documents record that the English fleet berthed here and sailed out of the ancient Northumbrian capital when Bamburgh too was an island way back in the 11th century.

Taking the advice of Kay Petal (feltalive.com), I used an over-the-door shoe organizer to store my wool. I like having all the colors and types visible, it helps to get the creative juices going!

Around where I live, street parking is very scarce. It's not odd that I'll have to park (literally) half a mile away from my apt.
So, you can imagine my chagrin when I see one of these portable storage boxes taking up a valuable spot. If they're there for a day or two, fine. But the last one I saw (and there have been many) was there for over a month.
They should at least get ticketed, if not towed away. If I left my car there for a month and didn't move it, I'm sure I'd be ticketed/towed. The same rules should apply.

I finally got new knobs which I will post pics of soon. My dad build this for me and it holds SO much stuff. We have plenty of space to spare. The inside of the long yellow door is painted with chalkboard paint.

I have a list on my phone of strange, interesting, or weird places I have heard about. So when I am out adventuring, I will pull out my phone look at the list, and see what's close. One day while out adventuring, I found I was close to Bud Jones's place. He is a well-known taxidermist who has a workshop/museum in Georgia. Of course, I had to go see that! I was greeted by a bunch of cats a small dog that thought it was a cat and a nice woman that gave me the run of the place. After looking at the room that was set up as a museum, I was told that there was a storage room that may be of interest. What you see in this capture is what I found in that room. Just your average catch-all.
