HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR OF THE PIG
This little piggy is a Berkshire Gilt and you will be happy to hear that he lives on a farm which is a rare breed sanctuary and he will always have a home there and never have to go to market.
“Don't try to teach a pig to sing. It doesn't work, and it annoys the pig.”
- Judy Sheindlin
I tried to teach him, but this little pig just laughed at me!!! ; 0))))

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR
the Year OF THE PIG
I feel like dancing
feel free to join in the jig
I have a feeling
this year will be big
More delightful; more fruitful
as sweet as a fig
Be faithful in friendship
be tolerant; be kind
Be stylish; hard-working
be generous; strong in mind
Perfection is the watchword
of those born under this sign
Generosity of spirit
a love of mankind
Celebrations; be a knowledge gourmet
read A Moveable Feast
Embrace the world with your love
give your all; not your least
Hand in hand across the ocean
North, South, West and East
We are in this life together
and we all want World Peace.

All animals at this sanctuary are rescued and will live out all their days filled with loving care. This little piggy was recently rescued at the time of taking this picture.
Airchild - your comment is too quick for me! Yes I made it Sunday for no special reason. My friend (nickname - Yummy!) suggested I stay home and cook with my son and I did! There is a layer of cream cheese under the berries! This is from Betty Crocker's cookbook and is one of my favorites!
Camera Mamiya RB67, film Rollei RPX 400, dev in Compard R09 1:25 for 12 min. I tested my old Mamiya RB67 (6x7), the bottom part of the pictures turned black? Must look into what caused this problem ?!
Rainy morning.
Staying home watching the rain falling. Listening to the waterdrops softly singing "Wish you were here".
Stay safe at home.

Our temperature today, 24 February 2017, is -7C (windchill -14C) and it's snowing again. Much as I would like to stay home all day, I have no choice but to go and get some urgent things done.
On 29 January 2017, I left home hoping to see one species of owl and came home having seen a different species instead! There was no sign of the first kind of owl, despite quite a few other pairs of eyes that had been searching. I don't normally drive from one location to another one that is a long way away, but I did this day, and I am so glad I did. I am not disclosing the area, especially after what some photographers have been doing recently to get close photos of a Barred Owl. While most photographers are respectful of wildlife, there are always those who will do anything to get a closer shot or an in-flight capture.
When I reached my second destination, I slowed down, starting to check the trees and fence line. Then I spotted a car parked further up the road and found that there were a couple of photographers who had already found the owl.
In the short time I was there, this beautiful Northern Hawk Owl was busy hunting, flying from tree to tree and along the fence line. I saw the owl dive into the snow twice - not sure if it caught a Meadow Vole the first time or not, as I wasn't quick enough to get a photo, but I did see it with a Meadow Vole dangling from its beak the second time. Sorry for the little rodent, but glad that the owl had a tasty snack.
The last time I had been lucky enough to see one of these gorgeous birds of prey was just over a year ago, on 8 February 2016, NW of the city. It was just the same thrill seeing the one in this photo!
"The type of prey the Hawk-Owl catches will determine its eating strategy. For mammalian prey the ritual is generally the same: the Northern Hawk-Owl will eviscerate its prey, eats the head first (especially for prey like the red squirrel, whose head is fairly large), and then—when tackling larger prey—it will eat the organs and cache the remains; with smaller prey, the owl will simply swallow the body whole."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Hawk-Owl
"The Northern Hawk Owl can detect prey by sight at a distance of up to 800 meters (half a mile). Though it is thought to detect prey primarily by sight, the Northern Hawk Owl can find and seize prey under 30 cm (1 foot) of snow." From AllAboutBirds.

Many countries are going to reopen the economy and lift the restrictions on businesses, individuals and gathering in public places. In province of BC, many shops and restaurants will be reopened after 19 May. People are already coming out in this weekend/
I am a believer of reverse theory. When people are staying home mostly, it is safe to go out for me. Now more people are going out because they are tired of the home stay. It will be a time period of higer risk in next two months.
If you really want to go out, please wear a mask and also try the best to avoid crowded places like shops and restaurants or other popular places.
There are many research and studies showing that face mask is effective in preventing the spread of virus. Many places have good result of control over coronavirus like Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Macau etc demonstrated this. Most people in those places have almost 100% population wearing masks in public areas.
Have a good weekend!

Day 12 — Stay Home, Stay Healthy!
I didn’t even have to get up from my chair by the window to take this one. Just had to lean sideways to get the reflection on the glass to line up the way I wanted it to. I had strategically placed that branch there where I could see it about 30 minutes earlier, hoping the curious squirrels would come to investigate. Day 12 of staying home to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Day 3 — Stay Home, Stay Healthy!
A pair of bush tits are building a nest in our backyard. Next in the series of things I wouldn’t have seen if I hadn’t been home for the coronavirus quarantine. This is a still from a short video of the pair working on the nest construction. It's pretty high up and I needed all 1,000 mm to get there. I had never seen one and didn’t realize they build these pendant nests. I was going to send you to my Instagram site but I’m having trouble getting the video up there at the moment. If I manage it you can see it here @tom_fenske.
