The “Marina Bay Sands” is a masterpiece of architecture, an architectural statement and an aesthetic triumph and has raised the bar for buildings in Singapore.

Since 2010, its breathtaking silhouette has dominated the entire bayfront and shaped the Singapore skyline.

The building was designed by the famous architect Moshe Safdie. With its three 194-meter-high towers, which are connected by the “SkyPark”, it casts a spell over visitors.

Artist's Statement:

This painting captures the serene yet striking beauty of Bennachie, a local landmark mountain, set against the stillness of winter. The mountain, although central to the landscape, is depicted distantly, preceded by a row of defoliated trees that form the midground of this composition. These trees, stripped of their leaves, stand in stark contrast to the soft, diffused light that filters through them, creating an interplay of light and shadow on the snow-covered field in the foreground.

The snowy field, brushed in subtle tones of blue, grey, and faint purples, reflects the quiet chill of the season, while the sunlight, streaming from the right side of the painting, bathes the scene in a gentle warmth that hints at the promise of spring. The sky, with its random display of colours and expressive brushwork, dissolves into abstraction, allowing the trees' branches to dissolve into tiny twigs and merge with the ethereal background.

My intention was to create a piece that leans into an abstract or impressionist style, where the focus is less on the precise details of the landscape and more on the emotional and atmospheric essence of the scene. Through this approach, I sought to evoke the feeling of winter’s quiet beauty, while allowing the viewer’s imagination to fill in the gaps where detail fades into abstraction.

They are the smallest and lightest birds in Europe. Their weight is roughly equivalent to a DIN A4 page!

Ever since I saw a really great picture of this little punk by Werner Lippert years ago, I've never been able to get it out of my head. Two years ago I started researching it, then I went to the relevant hunting grounds more often. And at the end of last year I finally saw them for the first time. They really aren't easy to photograph: they usually stay right up in the treetops, are super lively and very small.

You'd better BELIEVE Chris is making a statement, and that statement is "Summer's not over until I decide it is!"

There's beautiful weather outside, perfect for taking the dog for a walk when Chris (pictured) and I crossed paths. It's ALWAYS so refreshing to meet someone who trusts others (like me) and understands that sometimes people just enjoy art for the sake of art. I think it's safe to say that the two of us understand "the creative process".

Unfortunately the change we need is to do away with the the two party system and unite together. A government that fights among itself constantly is not serving MY best interest.

Here is my simple easy lesson on politics. For this illustration I will use the top political office, The President.

Any resemblance to persons living or dead is possibly accidental.

There are approximately 300 million people in the USA. Assuming that just one percent of the population are intelligent enough to run the country that would give us 3 million people to choose from. Assuming only one percent of those have enough political experience to run the country we still have 30,000 to choose from. Assuming only one percent of those have the leadership qualities and moral character to run the country, will still have 300 people choose from.

Now scratch all those because anyone that intelligent is smart enough not to run for president and anyone with great leadership qualities won't bow down to their party so they won't get the nomination.

Enter your two candidates. Mr. Donkey Turd and Mr. Elephant Crap. (Sorry ladies they are both male)

Mr. D. Turd is fresh, brown and flexible.

Mr. E. Crap is old, white and hard.

Some say Mr. Turd is too new.

Some say Mr. Crap is too old.

Some say Mr. Turd is too brown

Some say Mr. Crap is too white

Some say Mr. Turd is too soft on the hard issues.

Some say Mr. Crap will crumble under the pressure.

Some will vote for Mr. Turd because he is a Donkey turd.

Some will vote for Mr. Crap because he is Elephant crap.

Some will vote for Mr. Diarrhea because they don't like Donkey or Elephants.

Some will just not vote.

But regardless of who wins

The Donkey Turds will try to stop any good that Elephant Turds try to do so that people won't start liking Elephant Turds.

Elephant Turds will try to stop any good that The Donkey Turds try to do so that people won't start liking The Donkey Turds.

Meanwhile the country goes down the toilet.

Artists Statement

This dramatic painting captures the raw power and beauty of a sunset over the Bennachie ridge in Aberdeenshire, Christmas Eve 2024.

The artist’s bold use of sweeping, swirling brushstrokes creates a sense of movement and turbulence in the sky, as if the clouds themselves are caught in a restless dance. The rich, vibrant colours, purples, pinks, and dark inky blues, spill across the canvas, contrasting sharply with the fiery red and yellow glow of the skyline.

The silhouette of the Bennachie hills rises starkly against the tumultuous sky, their forms carved by the intensity of the surrounding light. The large, expressive brushwork injects energy into the scene, amplifying the emotional impact of nature’s wild, ever-changing beauty. This painting not only captures the awe-inspiring landscape, but also evokes the powerful forces of nature that shape it.

This was my final version of this, I'll post some predecessors over the coming weeks if I remember to show how this piece grew in complexity as I worked on it.

What could be more fashionable than a single white tail feather ? It's a bold statement by any means, and I'm sure he's the talk of the bird world.

The white tail feather is actually Leucism which is caused by uneven distribution of melanin in the feathers.
