Not quite sure what that statement is, though... She's wearing Mommy's crocs, a lovely pink sun hat (a gift from Milli) and has an old pair of slipper socks on her hands. I had thrown the socks away because they have a hole in the heel. Lilli found them and dug them out of the trash. She loves them. They have a cow print, so she puts them on her hands and walks around saying "Mooooo!" You can see that she has a finger poked through the hole.

They Live, We Sleep
Artist Statement
“We are living in an artificially induced state of consciousness that resembles sleep. The poor and the underclass are growing. Racial justice and human rights are nonexistent.
They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it.
They have created a repressive society and we are their unwitting accomplices ...their intention to rule rests with the annihilation of consciousness.
We have been lulled into a trance.
They have made us indifferent, to ourselves, to others; we are focused only on our own gain. They are safe as long as they are not discovered ...that is their primary method of survival.
Keep us asleep, keep us selfish, keep us sedated...they are dismantling the sleeping middle class.
More and more people are becoming poor. We are their cattle. We are being bred for slavery.”

This photographic body of work is inspired by John Carpenter’s 1988 film, “They Live.” The movie was also credited by Shepard Fairey “as a major source of inspiration for his own subversive brand of street art.” They Live was the basis for his use of the word ‘OBEY’ that became his main campaign and a popular clothing brand consequently.
The protagonist of the movie, an unemployed drifter named "Nada," accidentally comes across a box of sunglasses. After putting a pair on, he realizes that they are quite special. He sees the world in black and white and discovers that it's not what it seems. The series of images I have created are like those unique sunglasses that Nada stumbled upon, aim to show the world to the viewer for what it truly is. I hope they will help people to take into consideration what they sacrifice by blindly following self-serving governments and corporations’ agendas.
Through this photographic project my intent is to encourage people to be more aware of the habitual ways of living that we have been thoughtlessly following for most of human history. It seems as though the human race would have learned by now to not put their trust in the hands of the misguiding ruling class. Unfortunately most of the humanity is still in the state of mindless consumerism and simply does not realize that their decisions, their entire lives are being manipulated.

MEDIA STATEMENT: Gloucester and Camden residents and their supporters including iconic Australian actor Michael Caton bring their battle against coal seam gas to Sydney for the Annual General Meeting of AGL on Thursday 23 October 2014.
The residents are calling on AGL to immediately suspend its coal seam gas operations in Gloucester.
The group greeted shareholders as they arrived at the venue, informing them about AGL’s involvement in coal seam gas.
Residents also attended the AGM to ask questions about the company’s record of pollution incidents and licence breaches as well as the viability of proceeding with the Gloucester project in a volatile environment of strong community opposition.
There have been more than ten people arrested in the last 48 hours at the site where AGL is trying to begin fracking coal seam gas in Gloucester. The company brought its equipment trucks into the site at 4am on Monday morning.
The community have vowed to continue taking peaceful direct action to interrupt and delay the coal seam gas fracking over concerns it threatens human health, existing agriculture and tourism businesses, and the community’s water supply.
The fracking of four coal seam gas wells at Gloucester was approved by NSW Resources Minister Anthony Roberts in August 2014. This is the first coal seam gas fracking approved by the current NSW Government. AGL is planning to drill and frack 110 coal seam gas wells in the first stage of operations in Gloucester.
This exotic neo victorian statement necklace is bursting with feather plumage in peacock, guinea, and parakeet feathers. For steampunk romance, I have added a large gold watch gear to the center of the necklace with the feathers spraying out from underneath. My necklace is inspired by a fantasy masquerade party. Vintage glass chandelier crystals in pink add sweet and feminine elements. Dark rainbow vitrail crystals bring forth dramatic decadent glamour as they link to the feathered steampunk pendant. A large lavender glass drop dangles from the feather pendant and is accented by a small vintage glass cameo. Gold tone chain links from the other side of the pendant, referencing a lapel chain. The necklace is completed with mauve vintage enamel double link chain. I have added an extender to the back so you can change the length to your liking.

This big yellow sign hangs above the stairs to remind us daily what our mission is. When I started about seven years ago, the "mission statement" took about 10 words to state; then a couple years ago, a committee was commissioned to revamp the 40-year-old statement. It now takes up the entire wall. Ah, committees.
