The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) is an opera house – and opera company – with a history dating back to the mid-19th century. It is located in the centre of Vienna, Austria. It was originally called the Vienna Court Opera (Wiener Hofoper); in 1920, it was renamed the Vienna State Opera. The members of the Vienna Philharmonic are recruited from its orchestra.
The building was the first major building on the Vienna Ringstraße commissioned by the controversial Viennese "city expansion fund". Work commenced on the building in 1861 and was completed in 1869, following plans drawn up by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, who lived together in the 6. Bezirk. It was built in the Neo-Renaissance style.
The Ministry of the Interior had commissioned a number of reports into the availability of certain building materials, with the result that stones long not seen in Vienna were used, such as Wöllersdorfer Stein, for plinths and free-standing, simply-divided buttresses, the famously hard stone from Kaisersteinbruch, whose colour was more appropriate than that of Kelheimerstein, for more lushly decorated parts. The somewhat coarser-grained Kelheimerstein (also known as Solnhof Plattenstein) was intended as the main stone to be used in the building of the opera house, but the necessary quantity was not deliverable. Breitenbrunner stone was suggested as a substitute for the Kelheimer stone, and stone from Jois was used as a cheaper alternative to the Kaiserstein. The staircases were constructed from polished Kaiserstein, while most of the rest of the interior was decorated with varieties of marble.
The decision was made to use dimension stone for the exterior of the building. Due to the monumental demand for stone, stone from Sóskút, widely used in Budapest, was also used. Three Viennese masonry companies were employed to supply enough masonry labour: Eduard Hauser (still in existence today), Anton Wasserburger and Moritz Pranter. The foundation stone was laid on May 20, 1863.

This is a shot from Myakka River State Park in Florida. It is a really unique park with one of the world's few Canopy Walkways. The wet and cool winter made it especially lush and green.
Definitely worth seeing in person if you're ever there.

Electric power output rose by 80 per cent during the first nine months of 1960 over that of the corresponding period of 1959.
As a result of the expanded industrial and agricultural production the gross national product increased from P10.2 billion in 1959 to an estimated P10.8 billion in 1960 or a rise of P600 million. This represents a six per cent increase over the rate of increase of the gross national product in 1959 over that of 1958."

Akingbe, 8 years old stands against a doorway in Mfamiyen village, Akankpa local government area, Cross River State, Nigeria on April 13, 2018. His family is being hosted in the village after fleeing violence in their village in Cameroon in November, 2017. They spent 3 days walking through the forest before they crossed the border into Nigeria. Akingbe tripped in the forest and broke his left arm that is still set in a traditional splint.
Cameroonians are being hosted in Nigerian villages, many of whom fled across the border because of reported violence inflicted by Cameroonian government security forces on civilians that are suspected of sympathizing or being actively engaged in the secession movement of Southern Cameroons from the nation of Cameroon, led by the separatists group Ambazonia . They are demanding a separate state from French speaking Cameroon. Violence reached a peak in October and November, 2017 when many of the Cameroonians interviewed in the villages between the Nigerian town of Calabar and the border had fled their homes into the bush before eventually crossing over into Nigeria and seeking shelter in villages there.Two weeks previously, the Nigerian government granted registered Cameroonian individuals from the english speaking province refugee status. Once registered by UNHCR they will have freedom of movement within Nigeria for three years. With refugee status they will need to move at least 50km from the border into designated camps. As a partner of UNHCR, Caritas's role is to undertake protection monitoring; the team is conducting baseline & needs assessments within each village on a road that leads from the Nigeria/Cameroon border to the town of Calabar, Nigeria. They are gathering data on demographics, gender, age of the Cameroonians that will be utilized for the upcoming distribution of food and non food items by Caritas within the villages. They also ask the civilians what their most urgent needs which include access to clean drinking water, food, shelter, clothing, health services and schooling for children.

Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, also known simply as Honeyman State Park, is in Lane County of the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies 3 miles (5 km) south of Florence along Highway 101, the coastal highway. The 27,212-acre (11,012 ha) Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area adjoins the park to the west. Many amenities are available, including over 200 campsites, all-terrain vehicle access, swimming, fishing and sandboarding.
Originally named Camp Woahink, the park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), and was later renamed in honor Jessie M. Honeyman (1852–1948) of Portland. As president of the Oregon Roadside Council, Honeyman worked with Samuel Boardman, Oregon's first Superintendent of State Parks in the 1920s and 1930s, to preserve Oregon coastal lands.
Several of the structures built by the CCC, including the camp store, three picnic shelters, and the administrative building, comprise the Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park Historic District. The campground was added in the 1950s. The Lake Woahink Seaplane Base is on Woahink Lake, southeast of the park, and Camp Cleawox, a Girl Scout camp, is across Cleawox Lake and northwest of the park.

The Ghost Town of Bannack is located in the mountains of Southwest Montana. The town began in 1862 when gold was discovered along Grasshopper Creek. It quickly flourished into a boom town of over 4000 people and was briefly the Territorial Capital of Montana. As with most mining towns, the boom turned to bust, and the town was down to one resident by the 1950's. Today it is a Montana State Park and is one of the best preserved ghost towns in the American West.

The State Historical Museum of Russia is a museum of Russian history wedged between Red Square and Manege Square in Moscow. Its exhibitions range from relics of the prehistoric tribes inhabiting present-day Russia, through priceless artworks acquired by members of the Romanov dynasty. The total number of objects in the museum's collection numbers in the millions.
The spot where the museum now stands was formerly occupied by the Principal Medicine Store, built on the order of Peter the Great in the Moscow baroque style. Several rooms in that building housed royal collections of antiquities. Other rooms were occupied by the Moscow University, founded by Mikhail Lomonosov in 1755.
The museum was founded in 1872 by Ivan Zabelin, Aleksey Uvarov and several other Slavophiles interested in promotion of Russian history and national self-awareness. The board of trustees, composed of Sergey Solovyov, Vasily Klyuchevsky, Uvarov and other leading historians, presided over construction of the museum building. After a prolonged competition the project was awarded to Vladimir Osipovich Shervud (or Sherwood, 1833–97).
The present structure was built to Sherwood's neo-Russian design between 1875 and 1881. The first eleven exhibit halls officially opened in 1883 during a visit from the Tsar and his wife. Then in 1894 Tsar Alexander III became the honorary president of the museum and the following year, 1895, the museum was renamed the Tsar Alexander III Imperial Russian History Museum. Its interiors were intricately decorated in the Russian Revival style by such artists as Viktor Vasnetsov, Henrik Semiradsky, and Ivan Aivazovsky. During the Soviet period the murals were proclaimed gaudy and were plastered over. The museum went through a painstaking restoration of its original appearance between 1986 and 1997.
