First experience in capturing star trails. Unfortunately, south celestial pole is a little bit out of frame. Colored track under the palm tree is an airplane.
Yeah... so... I forgot to turn off long exposure noise reduction... so it looks very ragged because there are nice gaps between the stars where the camera stopped to process images... DOH! I guess I have to go back now ;-)
22 stacked exposures, each with the following properties:
Canon 5D Mark II
Sigma 12-24mm @ 12 mm
1 min, f/4.5, ISO 6400

I did a test for star trails last night which turned out ok I think......I've ordered a light pollution filter to try and cut down on some of the city lights, so I'll have another play when that arrives.......I've also ordered a USB cable so that I can run the camera tethered to the computer and be able to capture more frames over a longer period of time........but not bad for the middle of a major city 👍
If anyone is interested.....

2 hours worth of images shot between 9pm - 11pm GMT. ISO-800 for 30 seconds. Images stacked using StarStaX and processed in Lightroom and Fast Stone Image Viewer. I created a destaturated negative image just to see how it looked and I find it quite eerie!
From 10:30pm to 11:30pm, I didn't see much aurora activity nearby, just off in the distance. I decided to keep on shooting and maybe I'd create another startrail image from the 400+ 5 second images I collected. Here's the final product. Canon 5DM4 with Sigma 14mm f/1.8 ART @ f/2.8 5s ISO 1600. Post-processing in LRC and PS.
