A rather short series of startrails, just 29 minutes, from my night out on the summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island. There was no moon and it was DARK. Really couldn't even see my feet. I blew my first hour of trails (forgot to put the camera on continuous) and another half hour in the bitter cold to console myself was all I could stand. When I finished this, the temperature had dropped to 28 degrees F. The red in my foreground is from my headlamp; the telescopes from left to right are: Subaru 8.3m operated by Japan, the dual 10m Kecks, and the 3m NASA infrared. And a few airplane trails, which I may take out one day when I'm bored. Despite my comedy of errors, it was an absolutely thrilling experience.
How I wish I arrived early. Only manage to make 17 shots. Maybe next time might do another startrails here.

雖明知烏雲不會傷害到人，但看到又黑有大片、形狀又駭人的烏雲，仍不免感到害怕...

Mi primer star trails, lo tome a modo prueba y para mi, ha quedado bastante bien. Falta algun motivo principal para que diga algo a la foto, pero ya os digo, fue para ver si era capaz de conseguir este efecto. La linea que se ve que cruza abajo es un avion, que pasaba por alli...
son 42 tomas de 45 segundos sin intervalo y unidas con la aplicacion "startrails". ISO 800, 28mm, f 4.5. Enfoque hiperfocal.
I thought I would have a go at shooting some trails. I'm quite pleased with the shape, but there are a few things I will do differently next time (isn't that nearly always the case!)
I had my first encounter with the police too, but they were fine when I explained what I was doing.

Another attempt before it got cloudy. made with 98x 10sec exposures equal to 16 minutes and 20 seconds, stacked using Startrails.
I had a mess around with my camera while watching the stars on sunday. Processed using StarStaX and tweeked levels in photoshop.

If you wrap hand warmers around your lens that will keep the dew away. I use a lens muff with 3 pockets to hold the hand warmers - I only use 2 warmers and the dew stayed off my lens all through the night until morning. I got them from Kevin Adams Photography. Some people just put the hand warmers in a sock.

Stack of 177 images with 40 seconds exposure. Should actually just take star tracks, but did also get the aurora under the entire shoot. The tracks are not so long as the battery past out after 1 hour and 40 minutes
This is my first attempt at a startrail. It consists of 200 images, each 40 seconds long with an aperture of F4.5 and ISO 400, which were stacked using 'startrails'. I also took a separate foreground image with the same aperture and ISO settings, but a longer exposure at 150 seconds. This was edited and added to the startrail image using Adobe Camera RAW and Photoshop.

The camera used is a Sony NEX-5n, with the standard 16mm pancake lens, and the Sony Fisheye Converter. I found problems with this at first, as the camera doesn’t allow for a remote shutter release, but with the use of a smartphone app and a dismantled TV remote, I was able to save a lot of boredom and button pressing! bitshift.funpic.de
The location is in my garden, but now I am confident I know pretty much what I’m doing, I’ll venture out and find some better compositions! Watch this space...

Star trails during the Perseid meteor shower. Shot on August 11, 2009 in Lafayette, IN.
About 120 separate 30-second exposures, stacked with startrails.exe
There is one meteor trail, starting at the bottom of the picture, a bit left of center and going up and to the left.
Mi primer Startrails. Tenían que ser 80 fotos de 30s a f4 1600Iso con intervalo se 1 segundo, pero por algún error con el intervalómetro, sólo saqué 40. Aún así, algo salió. Editadas con Lr y montadas en Startrails.
