Okay, so the paint isn't standard... or the '100% Electric' sticker. But the DDR sticker is right where it should be.
Looking from the Henty Highway towards the junction just beyond the Signal where the line goes to the right down to the Port of Portland while the out of use line straight ahead leads down to the Station area.

Blackpool Standard tram 144, Highwood Carhouse, Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunkport, Maine, USA. Thursday 12 June 2025
A total of 42 Blackpool “Standard” trams were built 1923 – 1929. Many were withdrawn from service during early 1950’s resulting in over half of the class (23 trams) being scrapped in just four years 1951 – 1954. Thankfully 144 which was taken out of service circa September 1952 and due to meet the same fate was acquired by the Seashore Trolley Museum, in October 1954.
On Friday 11 March 1955 following a civic send off by the Mayor of Blackpool, Will Ogden on Blundell Street, 144 left Blackpool and was shipped via Liverpool Docks on the United States Line freighter ‘American Press’ to Boston. The tram arrived at the Seashore Trolley Museum on Saturday 02 April 1955. It was the first double deck tram to be imported in to the United States from Britain and the museums first foreign tram acquisition.
During 1957 – 1959, the roof was renewed and 144 was restored externally to its February 1930 – October 1933 condition carrying the red and white livery. For many years including the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s the tram was in regular use.
Extensive rewiring and rehabilitation took place 2000 – 2015. During the summer of 2006 the tram was repainted in to green and cream although at present it is still without fleet numerals, the Blackpool Corporation coat of arms and legal lettering. In due course the paint work which is now beginning to lose its shine will require a good cleaning and possibly touching up.
144 is on display inside the Highwood Carhouse. The trams interior is virtually intact although work appears to be ongoing inside the lower deck saloon where the lifeguards, dog gates and trolley base are currently stored. The lower deck longitudinal cushioned seats and the trolley arm are currently stored on the upper deck which has been completely restored.
It is unknown when the ongoing long-term restoration of 144 will be finished and when the tram will enter service again. An issue that has to be rectified before this can happen is that the overhead wires in some areas of the museum grounds are now too low for 144 (or any other double deck tram) to operate under.
Finally a total of seven Blackpool Standard trams are preserved with currently only three in use Nos. 40, 48 and 159 and it now appears that this may be the case for some time.
Three other British trams are also preserved at the Seashore Trolley Museum, they are: Glasgow Corporation Transport 1274, Liverpool Corporation Transport 293, and London Transport 2085 (later Leeds 526).

Standard Suites (50 SQ. METERS):
“Standard Suites” are located on the ground floor offering views to the garden or sea view. They consist of a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with double or twin beds and a living room with 2 sofa beds, they also offer a bathroom with shower. The suites have patio.
Calamari - the only good thing we ate at the Standard Diner, sadly. I still can't believe Jeremy agreed to share it with me - he hates seafood.
