East Central Community College baseball standout Jake Bush (seated center) of West Blocton, Ala., is shown signing a national letter of intent to continue his career in 2014-15 at the University of West Alabama in Livingston. Bush, a 5-11, 190-pound outfielder/pitcher, helped lead the 2013 Diamond Warriors to the MACJC State Baseball Championship. Prior to joining the ECCC squad in 2012, Bush experienced a stellar career at Brookwood High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he served as team captain and was a three-time recipient of most valuable offensive player honors and was a most valuable defensive player award recipient. Joining the outstanding student-athlete at a recent signing ceremony on the Decatur, MS, campus are (seated from left) his parents, Stephanie and Jeff Bush; and (standing from left) his sisters, Hannah and Molly Bush; and ECCC head baseball coach Neal Holliman. “Jake has been a joy to coach and has represented our institution well on and off the field,” said Coach Holliman. “Jake gives us multiple abilities in the fact that he can play left or right field. He also hits from the left side and possesses the ability to pitch from the left side. I can relate back to the recruiting process with Jake and as I watched him in high school, I remember coming back and telling my staff that I simply believe this young man is a winner and I want him at East Central, and that has held true.” The Diamond Warriors begin the 2014 season by hosting Pensacola Community College Saturday, Feb. 8.
