A band performs under a curved video screen while colored spotlights sweep across the arena floor and the crowd fills the stands. The long exposure-like streaks and red and yellow light pools give the frame its energy. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, 2019.

We pulled out the big lights today for something and Scott made the mistake of volunteering to be the test model before we had the lighting just right...

The stage at Symphony Space set for an interview with author Ann Patchett by author Patrick Ryan, with a reading by Kira Sedgwick. I love the light and color (especially the blue water) and the sense of anticipation. A small stage in a dim venue, lit by a single spotlight flare, with a painted mural of figures and a desert town behind. A red costume hangs at the right edge over empty chairs.
After I was done shooting the Tom Petty Tribute Band with my 75-300mm zoom lens, I put my 18-55mm lens back on to get this shot of more people gathering in front of the stage. Either there weren't that many Tom Petty fans at the Cruise Night, or else they weren't impressed with this particular group.
It is finally time. Time for Her to come. Only when the little sad melody, played by Dawn with her accordion, is played in the right tune, and played until the end...
Only then it is time for Dusk to arrive. Because Dawn is no more. She is not herself anymore, but only Her. It is time for a sweet darkness, it is time for delicious shadows. It is time for fiery Dusk to take over, time to steal the red from sunset, time to switch to red accordions. Until it is Dawn again, tunes will play only Dusk's songs. Until she finds Herself again, Dawn succumbs to her ways...

I took this shot while some friends and I were riding a historic subway train in New York. The train was shaking and the lights frequently cut in and out. I noticed a guide in front of me. He spent much of the ride chatting with passengers and answering their questions. When they were out, one light lit up this subway guide like a stagelight. I braced myself, pointed me lens at him, and vigourously snapped away. He noticed what I was going, but didn't seem to mind one bit.
I used my Nikon D750 @ Iso 800, 1/250th, and 50mm 1.8D @ 2.8 for capture and a combination of Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for processing.
