Haze, a biting winter chill, and high expectations at Stack, Middlesbrough. This shot captures the atmospheric transition between acts last night. The stage reset was in full swing, with the warm golden lighting cutting through the cold air to create incredible silhouettes and beams while the microphones sat ready, waiting for the next performer to step out.

Suspended in Reflection: The Sphere of Grace

The air inside the Spiegeltent is thick with the charged, vintage electricity unique to Spiegelworld’s Empire. Velvet curtains, flickering stage lights, and the faint murmur of an enchanted audience set the stage, but everything else falls into shadow the moment she steps into the light.

Suspended within a crystal-clear aerial sphere, the performer moves not against gravity, but in absolute, fluid harmony with it. In a striking black-and-white moment frozen in time, she extends into a flawless, razor-sharp horizontal split, her limbs spanning the diameter of the transparent globe. Every line is intentional; every curve of her spine reflects an extraordinary balance of sheer athletic strength and weightless elegance.

The curved, reflective surfaces of the sphere catch the intense glare of the stage lights, casting warped, shimmering flares across the pitch-black void around her. Against the dark backdrop, the sharp contrast highlights the fine details of her performance—the delicate texture of fishnet tights, the slight arch of her back, and a serene, subtle smile that makes the impossible look effortlessly graceful. It’s a breathtaking fusion of classic circus contortion, modern cabaret flair, and striking visual geometry—a quiet moment of pure artistic control amidst the chaotic magic of the show.

Shot with “Stagelight portait setting” of an iPhone 11 Pro Max and edited with Snapseed on an iPad using “Drama” preset.

I caught her in a small venue in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. (The Coach House- 27 Jan 2019) She's an American singer and song writer. More recognized older works might be "Wreck of the Day" or "Breathe". Excellent show. If you get a chance to catch her show, it's well worth seeing. The lighting was stage lighting. Depending on the artist they allow cameras in the place but no flash photography. The lighting effects were very interesting. They had a lot of Red/Blue and Pink/Blue, Green, Red, All Blue, All Red and they would switch them around for different back lighting effects. 125mm, 1/125, f8, ISO 12800.

Captured during the Sibiu Theatre Festival, this striking performance by Aainjaa, the electrifying percussion ensemble from Colombia, brought the stage alive with thunderous rhythm and fierce energy. Their signature mix of drumming, dance, and theatre pulses through every movement — raw, precise, and defiant. Under the lights, the drummers' warrior presence turns rhythm into ritual, sound into spectacle, and a festival moment into something unforgettable.

Dancers in the wings, just seconds before entering the stage. Dozens of lights contribute to the magic, but this is an image the audience never sees.

The unmistakable sound of Bere Gratis filled Sibiu's historic city centre during the 2026 Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS). One of Romania's most enduring and popular pop-rock bands, Bere Gratis have been entertaining audiences for more than a quarter of a century with their infectious melodies, energetic live performances and crowd-pleasing anthems. As darkness fell, dramatic stage lighting and a sea of enthusiastic fans transformed the festival into a celebration of Romanian live music, proving why the band continues to attract generations of concertgoers.

Chattermag planned to shoot their video in the cellar of an old school on the Waldeck Pyrmontkade in The Hague. The building is called 'De Grote Pyr' and the cellar is used for parties and known as 'Dystopia'. As the building is inhabited by former squatters, it has an anarchistic vibe. I was there shooting behind the scenes with Ilford HP5 and 3200 for that raw punk mood.

I brought my ETC Source Four 750w stage light to play with shadows.

ISO 1600, pushed +2.19 stops with +150 brightness... gotta work with what you've got. There were no stage-front lights on him when he threw the rocker, and I got one shot.

Always wanted to take a photo like this...

Ethiopian singer Minyeshu knows how to give a show. She and her band performed at Dunya in May.

I also met hellobo (his shots) and renerotterdam (his shots).

Taken on a cloudy day, around 8PM, only with stagelights, so no flash. From one of the first series of shots with my new -still very usable when highly sensitive- 1D MkIII (more on that soon). Taken with ISO 2000 (!).

Inside a gritty underground music venue, Riley stands ready to ignite the stage. Surrounded by graffiti-covered walls and glowing amber spotlights, she grips her guitar as the first notes of the night begin to echo through the room. Every detail of her appearance—from the studded leather jacket to her combat boots—reflects a fearless spirit driven by music and rebellion. This is more than a rehearsal; it's the calm before a storm of sound, energy, and unforgettable rock-and-roll passion.

Somehow, I snapped this shot when the stage lighting got turned down at almost minimal. Barely anything was visible! So, this was an attempt to recover one of my worst exposures! 😅 If you're intetrested, check out a screenshot of the original RAW image in the comment.

Have a fabulous day, everyone...
