Going through my archives and deleting old pictures, I came across this one, which caught my attention. It's part of a theater curtain with stage lights on the left. Not the best image as I shot this in low light with a ridiculously high ISO and hand held, but never the less, it held a bit of appeal. Maybe I'm just thinking of the program icons on my desktop monitor. In any case, some creative editing enhanced color but the strong noise reduction also reduced sharpness in those lights. Curtain call for Oliver! at the Gielgud Theatre. Lionel Bart’s musical brings Charles Dickens’s story of Oliver Twist to the stage; this production is directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, with designs by Lez Brotherston.
This is Kip, the charismatic frontman of London-based band Steak. With their groovy fuzz sound, they put on a great show at Desertfest last weekend. Really enjoyed them.
Proper DSLRs and other professional cameras were only allowed for accredited photographers during the festival, and since I no longer own a decent pocket camera, I made do with my phone.

I just survived three days of festival mayhem — it was absolutely glorious: 22 bands over 3 days, roughly 8 hours of music each day.

A single rosebud, almost ready to open up. It was late in the afternoon, so the sun was providing a nice "stagelight".
Magasin 4 is a volunteer-run venue for alternative music in Brussels, putting on concerts since 1994. It now sits in a new building near Tour & Taxis.

The set for Doug Wright’s Good Night, Oscar at the Barbican in 2025. Rachel Hauck designed the scenery for the London production, directed by Lisa Peterson, which centres on pianist Oscar Levant and live television in 1958.

The unmistakable sound of Bere Gratis filled Sibiu's historic city centre during the 2026 Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS). One of Romania's most enduring and popular pop-rock bands, Bere Gratis have been entertaining audiences for more than a quarter of a century with their infectious melodies, energetic live performances and crowd-pleasing anthems. As darkness fell, dramatic stage lighting and a sea of enthusiastic fans transformed the festival into a celebration of Romanian live music, proving why the band continues to attract generations of concertgoers.
Haze, a biting winter chill, and high expectations at Stack, Middlesbrough. This shot captures the atmospheric transition between acts last night. The stage reset was in full swing, with the warm golden lighting cutting through the cold air to create incredible silhouettes and beams while the microphones sat ready, waiting for the next performer to step out.
I caught her in a small venue in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. (The Coach House- 27 Jan 2019) She's an American singer and song writer. More recognized older works might be "Wreck of the Day" or "Breathe". Excellent show. If you get a chance to catch her show, it's well worth seeing. The lighting was stage lighting. Depending on the artist they allow cameras in the place but no flash photography. The lighting effects were very interesting. They had a lot of Red/Blue and Pink/Blue, Green, Red, All Blue, All Red and they would switch them around for different back lighting effects. 125mm, 1/125, f8, ISO 12800.
What’s up guys? Merchandise Mart is lit again here in Chicago. The light show is back and it can be enjoyed few times a week. This is just one of the many beautiful projections, the scene of the “Waltz of the Snowflakes” taken from The Nutcracker. What do you think?

ISO 1600, pushed +2.19 stops with +150 brightness... gotta work with what you've got. There were no stage-front lights on him when he threw the rocker, and I got one shot.
