Today is the autumnal equinox – half light, half dark.
(I'm not really standing against a black background, the iPhone stage light has done that.)
A point-of-view shot looking out from the musician's point-of-view at the empty auditorium during a filmed performance for television.
The lights are lit, cameras set, mic in place. A view that the audience seldom experience.
WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance), a world music festival that was established by Peter Gabriel and a number of colleagues in 1982, has spawned a number of other events around the world, but the original UK festival still takes place every year on the last weekend of July, and has been based at Charlton Park in Wiltshire since 2007. This photo, of one of WOMAD’s iconic signs, was taken on Wednesday July 27, before the festival began.
I have been part of WOMAD since 2002, privileged to be part of a group of adults and children (now mostly teenagers), led by my wife Dot, who runs children’s workshops every year, and we always have a wonderfully exhilarating time, not only because of the great music from all round the world, but also because of the wonderful atmosphere at the festival itself, and the special vibe of our particular posse, this year with friends from London, Stroud and Gravesend.

Vans On The Run
I am at the Knox Co. Fairgrounds for a gig with 4 Finger Shot. We are playing for Vans On The Run in the 4-H building. It was such a nice day I suggested we wear camo shorts but it got chilly when the sun went down! Fortunately they closed the big door behind the stage so it wasn't too cold all night.
Ken drove me to the gig. Scott suggested I come to his house and we ride together. Uh...drive to Hilliard from Powell to go to Mt. Vernon?!?!?!
Ken and I stopped at Kroger to get some Gin and Lime Juice for me to drink since we had to BYOB. I wasn't going to drink but Ken talked me into it! I was short on calories and carbohydrates so I had one of the Sloppy Joe's they offered us. That is the first white bread I have had since starting NutriMost.
The gig went really well and they loved us. They kept handing us a jar of moonshine through our gig! My pedalboard was covered in dust from the stage by the end of the gig. Some of our songs were fast but it was okay and we pulled "Comfortably Numb" out of our butts at the end.
On our way back we all met up at Denny's. I had 3 fried eggs and was charged for a child's meal!
