I finally get to cross seeing Bruce Springsteen off my concert bucket list. This show did not disappoint and hearing The Meadowlands filled with 60k people sing Thunder Road is giving Shea Stadium singing the chorus of Piano Man a run for its money.

Stage lights suspended from the ceiling of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The Ryman is the home of the original Grand Ole Oprey, and I had the pleasure of visiting there in April.

So wonderful to shoot a gig again! Marion Ravn delivered two great sets in Molde February 27th 2021. Offspring and I stayed for both. A great coincidence that I went back to Molde in the same week that she played there. I needed this.
I took this with my iPhone 12 using the front camera (the selfie one) in Portrait mode and “stage lighting”. I cropped it slightly and flipped the image.

Theatrical filtered light can make all the difference in whether a scene on stage looks realistic or manufactured. I followed the changes in lighting during this concert on Sunday afternoon. It was a tribute to the Count Basie Orchestra with drummer Butch Miles, who was the drummer with Count Basie for 15 years. The various changes in lighting were created with the series of filtered spotlights overhead and a few remote spotlights that were used to highlight soloists. I think they did a great job creating a vintage Count Basie look.

The switchboard was removed shortly after this photo was taken in 2004. The last patch on the board was "The Pirates of Penzance". It was made by HUB Electric Company for the school in 1967, where it would have originally been attached to manually driven autotransformer dimmers that would require a large crew for a single scene change. By the time I got there, the manual dimmers were replaced by the "gorilla proof" Teatronics dimmers and a Teatronics Tech Director console.
