The Our Daily Challenge group has chosen Self portrait as the topic for today. I used the front camera of my iPhone 12 in portrait mode with the stage light setting which renders the background in darkness.

This is a regular photograph, not a frame capture. I'm not sure why it ended up showing most recent in my photostream. Anyway, the crew is seen setting up for concerts that would begin shortly after I got this image.
A full band plays under blue stage light, with a close-up of the singer repeated on the central video screen above. Side panels glow with rippling blue graphics, and the dark audience edge fills the foreground.
A packed arena fills with raised hands and phone lights under violet stage beams, the crowd rising through the upper tiers. The view is from the back of the lower bowl, looking down toward the distant stage.
KISS @ Madison Square Garden MSG NYC 1977. I used my Minolta XE-7 with a 135mm 2.8 cheap lens handheld with Kodacolor 100 that I push-developed to 200 ASA. Group distant shot of the boys and their stage.
Tried to compose this snap as per books (converging lines, framing, balanced supporting items in the image and rule of one-thirds). Very less PP or crops in this image.

There’s something about seeing a concert from this side that feels very different from photographing the performer from the front.
Here's a look at our April '09 "The Vineyard" Series stage design. We've been milking our big stage riser on stage for several months now. This design cost approximately $250 for the poles to make the side structures wrapped in spandex. We'll be able to use these structures for many things in the future!
