Thinman, a Chinese rock band established in 1997, has released an EP and 3 full-length albums. This was the concert they gave to kickstart the tour promoting their latest album which was mixed by yours truly. I was invited to the concert and had the privilege to photograph their performance from the front row.

The Compositionally Challenged group has chosen Backgrounds for Week 9 in 2023.
I have used the "Portrait" mode of my iPhone set to "Stage Light". This removes the background clutter and introduces a solid black background instead.
EN They don't make the same gesture, they don't tell the same story. And yet, something connects them. One movement calls for the other, one tension finds its balance, one presence answers another. In dance, complicity doesn't always mean moving together. Sometimes, it is born precisely from difference: two bodies, two energies, two ways of inhabiting space, searching for each other, confronting each other, and eventually composing the same story. Without one another, the movement would no longer be the same.

Unfurling the divine mystery which resides curled, often unseen, within the heart of every human being. Its center well protected by many layers, the rose died like so many, without ever opening.
I wanted to capture the mystery the red rose bud seemed to hold. I gave it a dramatic stagelight, some full, some just stroking the rims of the petals and going off into the deepest darker corners.
I know, not everybody's cup of tea, but I think there is a 'need' for creative photography, if not for you... for me... hihi.
Thanx for your visit, M, (*_*)

A red queen of the parisian nights, probably coming from the famous cabaret "Folies Bergère", is presented here on the walls of the Museum of fairground arts ("Musée des arts forains".
The chapter of the book I'm currently reading, Why Art Photography by Lucy Soutter 2nd ed 2018, examines the rise of the selfie. People have made self-portraits since the invention of photography but the provision, some ten years ago, of a front camera on mobile 'phones and the ability to post the result on social media sites immediately has led to the boom in selfies.
