Labour Party Deputy Leader and Director of Elections, Joan Burton today launched “Vote YES for Stability”, the party’s animated video on the Stability Treaty.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Burton said: “This animated video is a short and simple guide to the main issues that arise from the Stability Treaty and it outlines some of the reasons why we believe that a YES vote is crucial for Ireland.
“We hope that the use of simple visualisations and key messages in the video will make the YES arguments accessible to an online audience who may be more accustomed to using online platforms to inform themselves on various issues.
“This Treaty is about ensuring a stable currency which will increase investor confidence in Ireland which will in turn bring about economic recovery. This is why it is vital that we vote YES on May 31st.”

Today was really meant to test my mental stability. And I even feel selfish for saying that.
I woke up this morning a little later then usual, since I didn't have class until two. I was reading outside my room when my brother texted me and told me my high school band teacher, who I was very close to, is expecting her first child. That is so exciting! Ever since she got married, everyone was always wondering when this would happen. I'm so excited for her. I am sure everyone is. If I had to guess, she is due around marching season though so that might get tough.
I then had a nice long conversation with my mother, originally to tell her about the good news from my band teacher. Then she informed me of some devastating news. She told me that my uncle (my mother's sister's husband) has a large mass in his stomach along with a pretty aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. The family went into Manhattan to find a doctor and unfortunately, they saw quite a few doctors who wouldn't operate because the mass was touching too many organs. However, we got good news later in the day that one doctor thought the mass might respond well to treatment and then maybe they could operate.
I haven't heard anything after that.
Then I had to go sing at my voice lesson and go to my improv class. I was holding it together all the way through that, title of show rehearsal, and then I got this news during Victoria Martin rehearsal.
This amazing lady is Jinhi Soucy Rand. I met Jinhi through the Bay Street Theatre and was honored to be directed by her in RENT in the spring. I know very little about this situation other then it is a new development in a line of medical issues.
This photo was taken by her husband, not me, but when I saw it I couldn't help but want to put it up. It shows strength and class and every other fabulous quality in this wonderful woman. I also had the pleasure of seeing her this evening at the theatre as we were preparing the set for our show that opens Wednesday. She seemed in amazing spirits and I was ecstatic to see that and be able to talk to just hang out and chat with all the wonderful people at Bay Street. We were all together and didn't have to say anything about anything really. Just being there was enough. It is a pretty tight family and I've been so honored to be a part of. The alcohol might not have hurt that situation either.
Two people I love dearly are now starting the hardest fight of their life. I hope they know I love them. Love is the best medicine. I sincerely believe in the good vibes and positive thoughts. I've never done anything as hard as what these strong people will be doing but I have this desire to shoulder their burden even though I know I can't. I always want to help.
Cancer sucks.
..........It is unrealistic to expect unity and stability under such a rule and would therefore not be conducive to finding a peaceful and lasting solution."
Complete statement of the Dalai Lama on protests in Tibet:
www.savetibet.org/news/newsitem.php?id=1217
Who did look in the faces of these people and experienced the deep veneration for their beloved Dalai Lama, surely knows that the Chinese politic is completely wrong. More than 50 years of occupation and suppression couldn't break the affection of the Tibetans to their Buddhist religion, their homeland Tibet and its unique culture and especially towards the Dalai Lama.
Those in power in Beijing they know very well that the Dalai Lama is an unbeatable challenge for them. Especially in the year of the olympic games. Posession of pictures of the Dalai Lama is forbidden in Tibet and punished severely. But anyway people in Tibet they ask tourists for photographs of their beloved leader.
Picture taken in Dharamsala. Exile Tibetans greeting the Dalai Lama while passing by. He is coming back to his exile from his visit to Bodh Gaya, an important Buddhist place of pilgrimage in India.

Peter Dattles, IMF, speaks at the IMF Global Financial Stability Report news conference Wednesday April 17, 2013, at IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C..
Sushi had her first full chemo treatment on Saturday (but her third in all). Considering the circumstances, she had a pretty good health review. Her weight hasn't changed (I was hoping she would gain, but at least she hasn't lost any further weight). And, her red blood cell percentage was also stable (still low at 18% but stable). The best news of all was that the vet thought her tumor seemed a little bit smaller - just a little bit, but it was still great news.
As a follow up, she was very, very lethargic today. And, it was difficult trying to get her to eat. I think the Saturday visits really take it out on her... even though she looked pretty good last night. Here's hoping for a better Monday and more progress in battling the evil cancer.
Latest update (Wednesday 1/28): Sushi had a very, very difficult past 3 days. She did not do well with the new drug they gave her on Saturday. She wasn't eating, has lost weight and was in a deep sleep most of the time. She's very weak and I think she was hallucinating last night, which was very strange and difficult to witness. On a brighter note, she DID suddenly start eating late last night (with a hearty appetite). And then, this morning she ate again with the same gusto. My baby seems to be feeling better suddenly. Praying for more stability for her...

Some brilliant (haha) lines I found while reading my journal.
A hug for pretty pointless nothing.
Eyebrows! I can't believe that's my weakness.
We are an island of hope and stability in a sea of insanity. Which is kinda weird since we're crazy. But we're crazy just for fun.
The first six lines of this poem popped into my head while I was making toast.
Well I haven't told you the date for a while so you should know that... I actually don't know what it is.
Dude, they could so call Hawaii the Sexy Back Islands.
Last night I was being so obnoxious alone in my room. I was annoying myself. That's a weird feeling.
The truck is difficult, so when I say I drove the truck you have to be alot more impressed.
Maybe we should get dinosaur suits. That would be really cool. We could scare people.
The ropes looked like the poles on Merry-Go-Rounds and I thought how crazy it would be to have a carousel with the 12 apostles on it.
Ok random thought of the day! *clears throat then realizes that was pointless because she's WRITING*
NASA+Alabama= Rednecks in space.
You're right, you never know what you're gonna get from me. *Forrest Gump voice* I'm like a booox o' choc-o-lates. -.- Example Number 1...
Is silly string biodegradable? What happens to it when it dies?
She pulls out a nature valley granola-ey thing. I'm looking at it, identifying things I've seen on the forrest floor. And I'm like, "It's ALL fiber! It's the compacted make-you-crap-block."
So i had a brilliant, if not severely delayed idea today.
I'm sending you all my love plus a studmuffin.
It takes effort, drive and focus to be as retarded as I am, it doesn't just happen. No I'm lying, it totally just happens.
I hope the flamable vapors ascend up your nostrils and ignite your bright Ideas.
That will be a marvelous misadventure since I only have partial control over my nose and it's mucus expulsion needs. How many un-normal words did I just use in that sentence?
If I happen to fall in vat of toxic waste, I'll become a super villain the likes of which no super hero has ever seen. I'd be like, a giant pink cookie and my only weakness is a giant glass of milk.
Dad and Jim sneak into the confference room like ninjas in padded slippers, leaving their families to ponder their wherabouts for a moment.
I can't decide if that's a compliment or a racial slur.
** Ending here for the sake of your sanity. I'll put up more later.
Allow your body to fully extend without allowing your feet to touch the floor. Quickly V back up, grabbing the ball in your hands and back to the starting position.
They finally broke ground on the new WestJet Head Office today which should be done by the first quarter of 2009.
This CAT dumptruck was hauling dirt out of the field and nearly looked like it was going to tip over when it got stuck, as a fuel truck parked too close on his left. The backhoe took the dirt out of the back for more stability. He made it out okay though.

Lithium-ion batteries are great at storing electricity, but the instability of the batteries' chemistry leads to safety concerns. Technological advances to eliminate safety issues could also expand use of the battery to vehicles and power grids.

Sometimes it's the little thing that show you how grim things are getting here in Thessaloniki, the long lines of taxis waiting at ranks for customers to turn up even in the middle of the day when up till recently getting a cab was next to impossible. Or perhaps its the accents of wandering street vendors who are now more likely to be people from the city than some recently arrived immigrants from West Africa or a member of Greece's Rom community. The city centre has become a near ghost town on week nights, a mere shadow of its former, vibrant self with cafes uncharacteristically quiet and empty streets, this in a place that prided itself on 4am traffic jams.
Despite the ruling PASOK government's claims that the country is on the way to re-inventing itslef and "entering a new era" the IMF - EU imposed Stability Pact brings to mind the old medical joke, "the operation was a success, but the patient died". The price being paid to trim public spending and raise revenues to pay off Greece's massive $420 billion debt load has been steep indeed and the greatest burden is being carried by those on middle and lower incomes. i.e those least likely to have benefitted from previous state profligacy.
They have been hit by the double whammy of falling wages and rising prices. Even in the relatively priviledged public sector incomes have taken a 20% dive whereas in the private sectors wages which had been been stagnant for the last five years have taken a nose dive as threat of unemployment forces people to accept whatever they are given (regardless of labour legislation laws or union agreements) or face losing their jobs.
On the other hand inflation still rages at nearly 5% with the steepest rises being observed in food, clothing and transport, i.e goods and services used by all. As a result the the greatest pressure on budgets is being felt by the poorest. The rises in VAT and a second round of tax hikes on petrol have just added to the problem and as a result the economy is going into free fall as people consume less so adding to financial woes. The numbers speak for themselves; 48% of Greeks reported in a recent newspaper poll that they have cut down on food expenditure recenty whilst 90% have cut down on money spent on clothing.
With petrol averaging 1.50 euros a litre, (the most expensive in Europe) those in the tourist industry are bracing themselves for a rough summer season as fewer and fewer Greeks are able to reach holiday destinations, let alone afford to stay there. The crisis has already become obvious in the last few months with a 21% drop in car use in the greater Athens area. Similarly the recent bank holiday saw a signifigant drop in Athenians leaving capital for nearby villages and beaches, with many of those who did leave opting for a day trip rather than taking advantage of the gorgeous weather to spend three days away from the city.
However, perhaps the most corrosive effect of the economic crisis is not one that shows up in accountants' ledgers or bankers' balance sheets, its the fear and sense of desperation that is eating away at many, even those who have a job and money in their pockets are terrified that all could just disappear in the near future.
The problem is even greater for the young who have seen what little hope they had for the future evaporate with nothing it seems to take it place except the prospect long term unemployment or a lifetime of insecure badly paid labour with nothing to show for it at the end. Many people I talk to speak obsessively about living the country, trying their luck elsewhere. They are angry and disappointed that after years of study and hard work their qualifications mean virtually nothing in Greece.
They may be right as it is very hard to see how Greece is going to pull out of the present financial nose dive brought about imposition of "internal devaluation" which is also being applied in Latvia with similarly devastating results with a drop in 25 % GNP in just one year. The total loss is estimated to reach 30% next year, a figure greater than the USA during the Great Depression during 1929-1933 according to the Centre for Economic and Policy Research.
