We walked through Hyde Park from Museum station, through the Botanic Garden to the Opera House, and then back via the State Library. About 10,000 steps, really enjoyable.
The Four Seasons Statues in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens were originally imported from Italy in the late 1800s.
They were originally created by Charles Francis Summers, an Australian-born sculptor living in Rome.

They were restored by Australian sculptor Jacek Luszczyk who recreated missing parts. The restored statues were unveiled in their original location in 2010. 'Spring' and 'Summer' are at the top of the steps, with 'Autumn' and 'Winter' at the bottom.

Higashi (a form of wagashi, which doesn't really translate but refers to candy or baged goodies) are made of glutinous rice flour, sugar and starch mixture or wasambonto. They are pressed in molds to form dry sweets, often with seasonal motifs. These cherry blossoms and fresh bamboo shoots indicate spring. I bought this set from Kyoto and there was different box for every of the four seasons. Wagashi is usually enjoyed with tea and they play a part in tea ceremony.

The maker is 京菓心 which I guess is pronounced as Kyoukashin (Kyouto' Kyou, お菓子Sweets's ka, 心 Heart shin).
The Japanese confectionary inside is called 里 Sato or village / hamlet (the normal word for villiage is mura but this has a more oldy worldy feel)

Looking across Canary Spring from the upper terraces toward Mt. Everts (left) and beyond; Canary Spring appeared yellow when it was first named, but ever since I've been visiting it's a beautiful blue color. Also over the couple of decades I've been watching it, it has expanded and then contracted, as it is now. I suspect it will grow large again, and when it does some of the boardwalks required for safe viewing will have to be relocated, as has happened many times in the past when the spring beneath it swallows up is piers.

This shot was taken while leading a group of six and seven year old children on a spring nature walk through a wooded urban park. One child called our attention to a tiny water strider walking along the surface of the water, a lesson in water surface tension itself. I noticed the vivid reflections which appeared particularly brilliant and unusually colorful as a backdrop against the radiant verdant tones of the bright, fresh, leafy vegetation. The contour of the beech in the right foreground created a serpentine focal point. The bed of soft textured moss provided yet another of nature's nascent enhancements. The effect reminded me of an impressionist painting, an observation that shall be shared with the children as a entry point into that art form. I had set my Olympus E-510 on its "Vivid" mode which helps to account for the brilliance in those backgrond reflections.

Anemone nemorosa or Wood Anemone is a typical spring flower that is growing 5 to 15 inches tall. In a local forest there are milions of it growing to white fields of flowers. I love taking pictures of them with my macro lens!

today was 39 degrees in the morning, with a cool breeze and the sun was shining.....blue skies abound
I love Sunday mornings going out and taking pictures-it's still quiet then and not alot of cars out and about.
Spring was truly in evidence in the Hope Valley, as 66604 with 6M03, the 12.06 Barrow Hill Up Sidings to Tunstead rumbles through the Hope Valley heading towards Edale, Monday 28.4.14

Exactly a year ago today we were traveling in Scotland admiring the countryside, a castle or two and whatever village we were passing, enjoying - if not the weather - it was rather cloudy and threatened to rain every few minutes - the spring greens and colors of growing things around us..
