sembra strano pensarlo ora che è una giornata freddissima e piove da due gg ininterrottamente ma sabato era davvero primavera...

Under the Owen Cherry Tree.

The Owen Cherry Tree is located in the Owen Memorial Rose Garden in Eugene, Oregon. It's a nationally recognized Oregon Heritage Tree and is believed to be the oldest and largest Black Tartarian cherry tree in the United States.

Spring came late this year, but, as always, it came. I love the fresh greens and the wonder of watching new life springing forth out of just about nothing. It's pretty amazing. I've added some heavy vignette here to allow the eye to focus on the fastest growing section rising above the other field of green. I've now got a quick review (5 min) of the Tamron 85 VC available if you want to see it: bit.ly/1WBszme

Technical Information: Canon EOS 6D + Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off)

Today is the first day of spring, but in the mountains nearby it has snowed, it is very cool and it does not seem that the arrival of this long-awaited season will be imminent. But we know very well that the "irruent" spring, as soon as it peeks out, in the blink of an eye will fill the flower fields and winter (this long winter) will be forgotten for a while....

Thanks for your recent visits, favorites, comments and invitations. I go slow, but everything is very much appreciated, as always....

Here's one to tide everyone over for the next week. Wish me luck I'll be out of town in the bayou. I'm spending some time with my dad and getting some much needed rejuvenation. But I'm taking my camera (of course) so stay tuned for some new stuff after next week ... hopefully I can find neat stuff. :)

On the day of the (southern hemisphere) vernal equinox, a fern unwinds in the spring sunlight.

Looks like a typical Central Valley spring storm is clearing up as an SP crane move takes the connector from Santa Fe to Southern Pacific at Stockton, CA; observed during one of my trips home from Texas. Santa Fe Stockton Tower is behind me to my left. The diamond under the gondola is a crossing with the connector between Santa Fe and UP's former Western Pacific main. Of course, most of the railroad elements in this scene are now gone, except for BNSF's ex-Santa Fe trackage.

I'd never seen a barn with round windows before, and I liked the shadows on the side! Spotted this one on the drive back from Pella (tulips coming!) yesterday. Behind on commenting--hope to start catching up with everyone tomorrow.
