A gentle spring breeze made the flowers dance.

My 365-2023: #95 of 365

The hedge in the background has turned golden by now, but some parts of this holly seem to think it's springtime!

It may be snowing outside but inside its spring with this lovely hyacinth :-)

Salmon Street Springs, or Salmon Street Fountain, is an outdoor water fountain at the intersection of Naito Parkway at Southwest Salmon in Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was designed by Robert Perron Landscape Architects and Planners and dedicated in 1988. The fountain's three water displays, which are regulated by a computer, are called "bollards", "misters", and "wedding cake".

According to Portland Parks & Recreation, the fountain can recycle up to 4,924 US gallons of water per minute through as many as 137 of its 185 jets. Salmon Street Springs is considered "interactive" and open from 6:00am to 10:00pm during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. (Wikipedia)

A bit showery near Pitlochry .

This photo was taken with the Linhof Techno equipped with the Hasselblad H6D-100 C digital back and the 32mm f4 Digaron W from Rodenstock. I used no shift but 3 ° tilt. The raw file was imported in Phocus and converted to 3F format. This file was imported in Lightroom. With the profile »colour adaptive« the tones got very intense without any need to edit intensity or saturation. I added a radial gradation filter for correction of vignetting which workes well in my view.

For the first time in many years, I did not celebrate Easter on the island. I will go in May instead.

If you live in and around the Portland area and you are looking for a waterfall fix, Silver Falls is ripe and ready to go. Bluey and I stopped by here and shot one day last week during the best time to shoot waterfalls...in the pouring down rain. :) Finally I have images to post after the long wet winter. I hope you have all been getting out and enjoying the brief periods of dry weather.

We were watching Peter Lik the other night and I couldn't help but laugh. He was in Hawaii and had a helicopter take him to this waterfall that looked like it was strung out on meth and then took a boat to a remote "hidden" waterfall that turned out to be a 4 foot waterfall cascading over a wall of mud. They were talking about it using words like secret, amazing and beautiful. LOL!!! WTF! Haven't they heard of the PNW??? :)

Well, welcome to spring! Couldn't think of a better representation from Florida that spring has officially arrived than to welcome it in with this adorable sandhill crane colt. In this image, it's also a special day ... for it's Uno's 1-week birthday!

As many of you know, I'm an official craniac, so when I heard of this cutie's presence in our world, I set to wake up super early and drive up to see him/her. It wasn't a drive without incident (thanks Tom), all good though, for seeing this colt made it all worthwhile (as well as spending time with my dear friends Jess & Michael ... it had been too long).

Words cannot describe how sweet this little one was and how thrilled I was to get to photograph "a morning in the life of" this colt. Being already 1 week old, Uno was making his way through the grasses alongside its parents pretty good, taking short naps along the way, and receiving tasty bugs and worms from its parents. Always a favorite activity of mine was the "catch-up chase" whenever it would lag a bit behind. At times, Uno would stop and look over at us, as if to wonder where our parents were. LOL. Of course, the wildflowers in the frame with this cutie were one my favorites. Love, love, love cranes, especially these young colts.

I hope that if spring hasn't arrived in your neck of the woods yet, that it will soon. As far as south Florida goes, unfortunately I think we'r already well on our way to summer. Either way, hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanks for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments.

This last unspoiled and undeveloped habitat in Kings Bay, the headwaters of the Crystal River, is critical for protection of the West Indian Manatee. The springs in the bay, with their constant 72 degree Fahrenheit water, provide essential warm water refuge for the manatees that congregate there in the winter months.
