we got one! i was cleaning up after the guys who built it and found a partially full bottle of heineken and there were 4 dead baby slugs drowned inside. sidenote: our bamboo is out of control!!
I don't like this one. I used the focal desaturate effect in Google Picasa, and it backfired.
Maybe I might post a B&W later on.
Martin Keamy, fed up with his messy roommates, decides to clean up the apartment so he can feel alright with writing passive aggressive notes.
This one took several takes to get right. In the end, I had to ease myself onto the dirty old concrete path. I think it was worth it though.
John P. made these origami butterflies for Milo when he was born. Closing in on three years later, I'm putting them up!

Chaos Under The Stairs
After driving home from Mum and Dad's this afternoon, the big job on my list was turning out the cupboard under the stairs for a big tidy up. Here you see it in the midst of the chaos. At least I found my hard had and high-viz jacket which had been missing in action for several months... Going to need it to tackle the rest! More info. Ref: D1101-357
What better way to give todays POD to these hard working guys I came across on my home from work today. I was driving home down East Washington Ave. and while traffic was bad I figured I would pull to a side street to see if I could find any random buildings to take pictures of, but when I found none I proceeded to pull my car to a little park just before the Washington Street Bridge. To most of the drivers on East Wash I am quite sure they weren't happy to see that these guys had a lane of traffic blocked off to suck the nasty sewage out of the sewers but I saw it as two guys hard at work. My journalistic eye started twitching as I knew they had to be the POD, and even better yet I had a good conversation with the both of them (names l-r Gary and Charlie) about photography and their job for the city. I wish I hadnt been so shy at first or else I would have gotten up closer and used a wider lens looking up on my belly with them facing down. Maybe next I say, though the sky was overcast I still managed to blow out the corner which maybe a different fstop could have fixed or maybe a slightly faster shutter speed. What really drew my eyes to this shot was the fact that the pipe/tube splits the scene in half but gives you still a good sense as to whats going on. But whats done is done, I enjoyed my talk with the both of these nice guys about their "Spring Cleaning" of sorts: and got a couple more birthday wishes out of it. (oh thats right its my birthday more reason for me not to do my normal picture of me once a month thingy just yet).
Before I cleaned these screens they were black and clogged causing a weak and dirty flame on my grill. After the cleaning my flame was blue, strong and hot.
I hadn't cleaned these since I got my grill back in 2005!
Front of living room. We removed two dining chairs from the front window, also removing a leaf from the table. Our two main seating chairs are at the upholsterer's, so the space is really open just now. When they come back in 6 weeks, we'll switch out the rocker and small slipper chair.

Toni Johnson (Left) and Phillip McCormick pick up trash at Dale Hollow Lake April 2, 2011 during a spring cleaning event organized by The Friends of Dale Hollow Lake, Inc., in cooperation with the Overton County Sheriff’s Department along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District. The volunteers spruced up Kiesling’s Bottom and Gum Grove access areas, which are popular bank fishing and boat launching areas.
Bees Spring cleaning - watching the Guru for pointers.
In late April, attending to the Beehives to check the cleanliness and see if the bees have enough wax to lay brood (new eggs for new workers).......
Some hives are performing so well they have quickly run out of space and present a chance for swarming - so to avoid that happening (its ok but only under controlled circumstances) we add a top box with new wax frames.
This has been such a busy (yet unbelievably rainy) week for me!
I started selling prints on another online marketplace (...but within flickr rules i don't believe i can tell you what it is. google supermarket. ::coughcough::)
There's a carnival, which I totally plan on running by, even if I have to wear rainboots to get to it, super fun Mother's Day is coming up. I hope everyone is ready! And of course, I springcleaned my apartment cause it was really dirty and sometimes I wish I lived alone. Hmph.
Enjoy your day :)
I wish I was on this plane. Going to Mexico.
This is how my toilet looked after a round of cleaning to bring in the new year.
I live in a really old building so the toilets are reaally old school. So old that they've seen everything. Maybe it's just me, but I think the toilet looks like it's winking at me like, "I know you're not going to clean me for another month but thank you anyway."
Spring.
This time o’year we usually saddle up,
Head out on the range to wrangle in the strays.
They’ve been out all winter, getting fat
On dust, cobwebs, dryer lint, and such.
There’s no other life so free;
Wranglin’ lint doggies on the range,
Singing those ole lint-boy songs
‘Round the candle fire at night.
“Momma’s, don’t let your babies grow up to be lint-boys.
Don’t make 'em push dust mops, and push brooms, too much
Don’t let ‘em use Swiffer, Endust, and such.”
As I plod along,
I hear a young acorn lint,
A’tangle in a furniture thicket,
Bellowin' for her mother.
I gently free it, and it lights-out,
Bang-tail, hither and 'yond,
Like a cat with a tin can
Tied to its tail.
I rope her in,
And like Rowdy Yates, in a tender moment,
I gently lift her up,
Then drive her into the dust corral.
No other life so free,
Free as the breeze from the ceiling fan,
Free as the cockroaches and spiders,
Ridin’ the range, drivin’ them lint doggies.
What"s that?
The wife say’s I have to go
take out the trash…
"So, bang the rugs slowly,
And vacuum there lowly,
For I’m a lint herder,
And I know I must die…."
Pretty soon he will need to go get his summer hair cut. Can you see how sad this makes him? He hates baths.
I shamelessly plug Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products. Natural ingredients, wonderful scents, no animal testing and they get the job done without burning your skin and eyes. I also feel better about using these around the pets. www.mrsmeyers.com

My vintage apartment has built in cabinets and drawers. I have blue willow transferware hanging from platehangers in the back of the cabinet for decoration. My floor tile is blue and white and the main colors in my kitchen are navy and red. A shelf under the cabinet holds my l to r, my cutting boards, a blender, my grandma's cookie har, a bamboo container which holds reuseable chopsticks, vintage tins which hold my flour and sugar, little bowls which hold scallions and garlic, handy to the stove, some platters and pretty serving ware, a box of raisins, and some poorly placed vinyl placemats. I keep my pot lids hanging on a rack to the side of the oven, and potholders on a hook to the left hand side.
The reason I later found out was that it was due to spring cleaning for that particular day at Telok Blangah Food Centre (Block 79) and Telok Blangah Market (Block 82)
If I had a blog, I would write an entry about the importance of properly naming and organizing digital files. My problems started 4 years ago and went down hill from there. Someone once told me, to save a copy of a file anytime you make a design change to a file. So I have multiple files with just minor differences between each one.
So anyways once I bought a couple external harddrives, and I would pass files among multiple computers. I now have many files that have no differences at all!! Well a long story short, I'm finally spring cleaning my hard drives and it is a painfully long experience that could have been avoided.... On a side note, I always kept immacualate files and filing system at work but at home I would just let everything go, well not anymore.

My vintage apartment has built in cabinets and drawers. I need to clean off the top of my refrigerator -- my coffee maker is gathering dust, my lucky golden cat bank from chinatown is full of coins which should be taken to the coin star machine. I've got some cute swedish candlesticks and a little milk glass on top of the fridge, which add some cheer to my kitchen, but also some old bottles of wine and rum, which I should probably get rid of.

This photo shoot came from a friend of ours talking about looking forward to doing some "spring cleaning." When I went looking for the springs, I also found this celebrity who wanted to participate. Oh nooooooo!

T is for tidy, Took some Time - Truckloads To Tackle...
my office at home was in desperate need of a tidy up... things were stacked up on every piece of available space...see, I'm a bit of a clean freak... but.. once it starts to go, I let it really go... it's a BAD HABIT (FGR), I do the same at work... there's a number of softdrink cans on my desk from the week... 2 or 3 Dr. Peppers, 3 or 4 Coca-Colas and 1 or 2 mountain dews.. for the record I'm coca cola loyal.. but pepsi does have a winner with mountain dew.. and dr pepper is nice for a change now and then... so, anyway, even though it's summer here, I really needed to give the office a SPRING CLEAN (TRP).
I had fun with passive aggressive comments the other day... and it's only fair that if I'm giving more out, that I'm getting some too...
I'm in the photo, hiding in the corner... a screenshot of a video www.flickr.com/photos/tharrin/3293081403/ that was done this morning for MIKE B's group "Hi, I'm..." - if you've been invited, please take part... it's so great to see a little of the people we feel we know from flickr and those we don't... yet. :)
I had surgery on my back (just minor) back in December and to avoid pulling the stitches out, it's been a couple of months since I put any serious elbow grease into cleaning my bathroom.
Well, this made my toilet very melancholy.
Warning: if you have a weak stomach don't blow this photo up any larger.
