Tis the season for spring cleaning. I like to get it finished before it's time to work in the garden, that means a little before spring around here. Time to wash the curtains, clean the light fixtures, clean out dressers & closets and move all the furniture and scrub the floors.
My apartment has no built in countertops so I bought this IKEA cabinet as a workstation and storage for pots and pans. I've got a magnetic strip and bar mounted above the countertop, and some cheap plastic rolling drawers to the right. The vintage fan was a birthday gift from a good friend.

I spent part of the morning clearing out the clothes in my closet. VERY overdue! It's early spring cleaning!
The cleaning was, in part, inspired by Gretch! She said once that nothing in her closet is more than a year old. Aahhh, to be so hip! ;)
In making space for my new dresser in my wee studio I gifted one of my shelving units to my Man for all his important magic books... on the condition that he must keep tham tidy and colour co-ordinated... ;)
Whilst Spring Cleaning I found these aged and well-worn Big Brother Soul t-shirts, long forgotten and tucked at the back of the wardrobe.

Dagobert I, son of Chlothar II, transferred property in and around Toury to the the important Abbey of Saint Denis, so a church and a priory did exist here already in Merovingian times.
When centuries later Suger was abbot of Saint-Denis, he commissioned not only the first Gothic cathedral in Saint Denis, but as well he had the priory and church in Toury renovated and rebuilt, before installing his nephew Simon here in 1160 as a prior.
The church, probably erected during the 11th and 12th century, got altered and enlarged during the 14th century.
The nice porche, seen here, was added to the structure in 1763. Around Easter is the time of the spring-cleaning. Behind the person with the besom is a red door. The graffito makes clear, that the devil resides there.

I spent the majority of today doing a ton of spring cleaning. I cleaned my entire room, organized my closet, reorganized the drawers, and got rid of SO much stuff that piled up.
Here I am shredding mail that I should have gotten rid of ages ago. That bag was full of things that needed to be destroyed. It took a long time as the shredder kept getting clogged. This was one of two shots where I got to look toward the camera.
I need to shower now. I can smell myself. It's not pleasant.
Day 337 of 365.
28 days and counting...

Luke 13:6-9, 22-24
6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
8 “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”
22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

Another lovely day, and I felt inspired to do some spring cleaning. I enjoyed doing some dusting (which I don't do very often) and changed things around in the sitting room a bit. Still more to be done, but I made a good start. I took the houseplant to the bathroom to wash it. I also took some stuff to the tip, bought a decanter in a Chelsea Road charity shop, and popped in to check on Olive, who was fine.
Although she's tired, Mum hasn't slept very solidly today, so will probably go to bed early. It's odd how some days she zonks right out, and other days she doesn't seem to be able to settle.

Bees Spring cleaning - we have just cut some wax with Drone eggs away from a hive...remember Drone = Male so not much use ha ha !!
In late April, attending to the Beehives to check the cleanliness and see if the bees have enough wax to lay brood (new eggs for new workers).......
Some hives are performing so well they have quickly run out of space and present a chance for swarming - so to avoid that happening (its ok but only under controlled circumstances) we add a top box with new wax frames.

Well I'm still here even if I haven't posted a photo on Flickr in weeks. I'm still taking photos. Yeah, I have very little time to relax let alone take, edit and post photos. I apologize to all my wonderful Flickr friends I've meet in the last couple years.
I want to do better.
To recap the last few weeks:
~my boyfriend packed up all that he could fit into his car to follow his career dream. No more daily grind for "The Man" in an office job. Heading up the Pacific Northwest coast for 2 weeks visiting friends, traveling, eating, blogging. Then 3 months in Europe (mostly France) to reinvest in his passion to write, check stocks/bonds-for learning curve he says, and be his own boss.
I miss him, wish him well in his dream, am extremely proud and jealous of him. I can't wait to see him again this summer.
~I'm looking for a new place to live. To find a new apartment and new roommate(s). Stressing out of being alone w/out my rock boyfriend, truely living by myself independent w/ little cash or resources is both frightening and exhilarating new at the same time.
~Countdown is coming soon this month. Looking for a new place/roommate is like going on blind dates and multiple job interviews all at the same time. "but why don't they like me?" I feel like Goldilocks where nothing is just right.
~Rightfully so, my work at a non-profit for kids is suffering. I'm exhausted with long hours (damn you time change!), meeting with school parents/staff members, training new co-workers, and interviewing for a promotion. Then next month I'm off for a training conference.
So please excuse me if I don't post often. I know I said months back I would keeping going. I want to continue to meet many of you in meet-ups this summer.
I KNOW I will be fine. Hormones go up and down. Good days and bad. Mostly good ones! I'm so happy and excited for newness in my life. I can't wait to share them as they come along.
