Springtime at Portneuf Gap
Portneuf Gap is at the narrow entrance to the valley that is occupied by the small city of Pocatello, Idaho. The Portneuf River flows through the gap. It's behind the trees in the photo.
This exact same field was full of yellow lupine the previous spring in Sunol Regional Park. Now owl's clover has taken its spot. We had some unexpected cloud action on this day and it even started to rain just as I was getting in my car after this hike. Good timing! Thanks to Jay Huang for the flower update on this region. www.flickr.com/photos/50663863@N02/

This was tonight’s sunset while out walking the dog with my kid. Usually more of the kids are with me, so it was a rare occasion to just have time with him alone. The view left me feeling connected with nature as well as with my son. Sometimes the universe arranges certain moments just right.

“We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has only happened once, and that's why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I'll never forget a single moment of it.”

A storm blew through leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature.
