Split is the second-largest city of Croatia after the capital Zagreb, the largest city in Dalmatia and the largest city on the Croatian coast. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and is spread over a central peninsula and its surroundings.
The split wing on this monarch didn't seem to affect its flying. I only got a quick shot before it darted away.
Omdat het weer rondom Knin totaal omsloeg en we in hevige regen en onweersbuien terecht kwamen, besloten we na de watervallen (die droog stonden...) weer terug te rijden richting Split.
Vlak voordat we weer aan de kust waren bedacht ik me dat de RegioJet naar Praag misschien nog een optie zou zijn voor een foto. Het zou echter wel erg krap worden qua tijd. Tussen Solin en Predgrađe werd een matig plekje gevonden waar een half uurtje werd gewacht, om tot de conclusie te komen dat ik trein trein gemist moest hebben.
Alvorens weer naar het appartementje te rijden werd nog even een kijkje genomen in het station van Predgrađe. Voor de zekerheid werd even bij de stationschef navraag gedaan over de RegioJet, op dat moment gingen er enkele toeters en bellen af wat blijkbaar het vertrek uit Split aankondigde. De beste man mij wist te vertellen dat de RegioJet er met drie minuten zou zijn, spoor 3!
Uiteindelijk dus toch nog een foto! HŽ 2044 011 met de RegioJet 1220 via Zagreb en Bratislava naar Praag vertrekt na een korte stop uit het station van Split Predgrađe.

Under standard Australian lighthouse convention, red filters would usually be placed to the extreme left and right of the beam (indicating "danger zones" for a passing ship, in-line with the jagged coastline). For reasons unknown, the Split Point Lighthouse operated for many years under the opposite system; although this has now been corrected. Split point lighthouse has 132 stairs from bottom to top and is 34 metres tall.

Home to Diocletian's Palace, built for the Roman emperor in AD 305, the city was founded as the Greek colony of Aspálathos in the 3rd or 2nd century BC. It became a prominent settlement around 650 when it succeeded the ancient capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, Salona. After the sack of Salona by the Avars and Slavs, the fortified Palace of Diocletian was settled by Roman refugees. Split became a Byzantine city. Later it drifted into the sphere of the Republic of Venice and the Kingdom of Croatia, with the Byzantines retaining nominal suzerainty.
This looks like a submarine but is actually a fancy boat for tourist trips. I think it has a glass bottom and perhaps can go lower in the water but I don’t think is fully submersible. Split, Croatia on the beautiful Adriatic.
