Happy Macro Monday!
Was working on some still life images this weekend - a little to cold and windy outside.
The Split Rock is located at Clachtoll Beach in the far North West Highlands of Scotland and is a feature of the Northern Scotland Geopark.

"Two Harbors, Minnesota
Located in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse rests approximately 20 miles north of Two Harbors. 54 feet high, it was built in 1910 atop a 130 foot sheer cliff overlooking Lake Superior. Explore the structure on your own, or take a guided tour led by characters in period clothing. Check out the interpretive exhibits and presentations. Explore the light keeper’s residence and outbuildings. You can even climb the 32 step spiral staircase to the lantern room to see the original turning lens. This is one of the most popular and most photographed Lake Superior Lighthouses on the Lake Superior Circle Tour. Come and see for yourself why it is so popular!"
I had a very muddy walk in the woods yesterday following heavy rain mid morning, but the sun was out for the rest of the day, and the weather was quite mild and the air was fresh. I turned left at the fork and followed the track back to my car.
Small but pretty falls in the Grampians. It only took a fairly short but beautiful walk to get there.
Sunrise splitting the uprights over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from Fort Desoto. Here is the first of my edited shots from this morning. Love our beautiful sunrises.
The Red Arrows' vertical bomb split was so beautiful that I captured it differently each day. On the first day, I used landscape format; on the second day, I recorded a video with my mobile; and on the last day, I chose vertical format.
The Split Rock Lighthouse peeks out of the fall foliage along the shore of Lake Superior.
The lighthouse was built after a 1905 storm that damaged 29 boats. It was first lit in 1910.
The brass framed light is made up of 252 prisms and has a range of 22 miles.
Lake Superior is the worlds largest freshwater lake holding 3,000,000,000,000,000 gallons of water! That's 3 quadrillion!!! That's enough to flood North and South America with one foot of water!!!
Split, Croatia, view of the harbor after a departing rainstorm on a spring afternoon, the low light image was taken from the balcony of my apartment, the others from sea level earlier in the afternoon. Happy weekend to everyone.

On my last hike I found a comfortable rock for a little rest stop and decided with my unusual getup due to pandemic avoidance I'd try some selfies so I could look back at it from some future time when life is semi normal again. The idea of joining 2 selfies together makes me quite slim which isn't a bad thing, and the two different landscapes compressing me is A-OK with me. I would gladly yield to the desert like this -- it is a favorite place.
The big grand dame of Dalmatian cities, Split, in the blue hour. A panoramic version will be coming soon.
Another fabulous day out with the FFF+ Lots of shots were taken and I need to sort through them all still!
Split Rock Lighthouse is a lighthouse located southwest of Silver Bay, Minnesota, USA on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The structure was designed by lighthouse engineer Ralph Russell Tinkham and was completed in 1910 by the United States Lighthouse Service at a cost of $75,000, including the buildings and the land. It is considered one of the most picturesque lighthouses in the United States.

Did a giant come by here and split this rock in two with his knife?
Brimham Rocks are formed from a medium to coarse sandstone known both as the Lower Brimham Grit and also as the Lower Plompton Grit, one of a series of such sandstones laid down in the later part of the Carboniferous period in what is now the Pennine region. In formal terms this particular grit which is between 10 and 30m thick, forms a part of the Hebden Formation, itself a sub-unit of the Millstone Grit Group. It was deposited 318-317 million years ago during the Kinderscoutian substage of the Bashkirian stage. The rock which has traditionally been referred to as Millstone Grit, originated as river-deposited sands in a delta environment and contains both feldspar and quartz pebbles. Deposition from moving water has resulted in the cross-bedding which is very evident in most of the outcrops. Brimham Rocks has been described as "a classic geomorphological site, significant for studies of past and present weathering processes and their contribution to landscape evolution." (Wikipedia)

Split Rock lighthouse stands on a 133 ft (41m) sheer cliff along the Minnesota North Shore of Lake Superior. It was built in 1910 after the infamous 1905 storm in which 29 ships had been lost or damaged. At the time, the area had no roads and all construction materials had to be delivered by boat and lifted up the cliff by a crane (which somehow had to get up the cliff first, I presume). Looking at Split Rock Point on the North Shore of Lake Superior from Gooseberry Falls State Park, about five miles away.
A little beyond the point is where 3M (Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing) was born. A little further beyond that is the Split Rock Lighthouse, a Minnesota icon. In between are the "Twin Points" at Iona's beach. All are places of breathtaking beauty.
Gooseberry Falls State Park is located in Castle Danger, Minnesota (north of Two Harbors) on Lake Superior's North Shore.
