Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia, with about 300,000 people living in its urban area. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea.
Home to Diocletian's Palace, built for the Roman emperor in AD 305, the city was founded as the Greek colony of Aspálathos in the 3rd or 2nd century BC.
This photo was taken at blue hour from the Marjan viewpoint.

One from a little while ago. This is a split oak fence made using a technique centuries old. It allowed trees to be cropped and then re-grown. The timber is split so that its hard surface faces the rain. Straight from the camera.

Lake County, Minnesota
Shipwrecks from a mighty 1905 November gale prompted this rugged landmark's construction. Completed by the U.S. Lighthouse Service in 1910, Split Rock Light Station soon became one of Minnesota's best known landmarks. Restored to its 1920s appearance, the light station offers a glimpse of lighthouse life in this remote and spectacular setting. Split Rock Lighthouse is a National Historic Landmark.
