Johnson Mill. Cleveland, GA

A few nights ago we hiked to the end of Cape Split via the shoreline to watch the sunset. As we made our way back beneath the towering cliffs I captured this photograph of the sea stacks in twilight. The long exposure turned the waves into an ethereal mist. Perfect. Now for the two hour hike back in the dark. www.fundyrocksphotography.com

Shipwrecks from a mighty 1905 November gale prompted this rugged landmark's construction. Completed by the U.S. Lighthouse Service in 1910, Split Rock Light Station was soon one of Minnesota's best known landmarks. Restored to its 1920s appearance, the lighthouse offers a glimpse of lighthouse life in this remote and spectacular setting.

This tree is amazing as not only is it growing out of a rock and has been split down the middle, but both halves are still alive! It's growing in a very steep-sided and densely wooded valley, so I was unable to get a better shot - HTMT!

Check out this art installation I am helping sponsor. My good friend Divi has this split sim area dedicated to rotating artists in SL. For more information please read my blog and check the links from there: karasecondlife.blogspot.com/2010/12/spit-screen.html

I added Divi, my sea dryke, my av and some music to the two installations for this short video. Bryn Oh has a super cool machinima of the space on Youtube. December artists: Bryn Oh and Miso Susanowa.

Taken last winter I had to split this right across the horizon to get the right exposure because of the contrasts! No filters used!

17.07.2017. Apocalyptic day over the city of Split!!!

A great forest fire has ruined the suburbs and came to the very edge of the city.

Hi Everyone and TGIF!! Well the week is over and onto the weekend.

Took this last week at this beautiful little spot near City Island down in the Bronx in the Pelham Bay Park section of the Bronx. Hard to imagine when you hear the Bronx which is a major city in itself to find this little gem. Split Rock is a Golf club which looks like a fun course to play so may have to give this course a try and only wish I had my clubs handy and could have broken away from the event I was at. Very picturesque and well maintained and can only imagine when everything starts to bloom it must be gorgeous! Well at least i had the camera handy for a few images!! FOUR,,,,,Is what they will be hearing when i hit the Lynx, lol!!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome to my son Ty and his images he recently posted after becoming a member. Both Ty and I appreciate it so much!!

Stay well and Happy Weekend to all,

Tony

On the wing we see to the left, the east wing, the catwalks were split. When a prisoner left his cell, he would walk out onto a barred hallway. The railed catwalks we see here are on the other side of that hallway. The east wing was built in 1837. The west wing, off camera to the right, was added in 1890. The roof has failed at the junction between the two wings.

The Split Rock Lighthouse at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park along the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota.

After dropping off their cars at the NS interchange in Rockwood, FIMX 3138 and 4023 head back west, lite power, bound for Crab Orchard, TN. The B Boats are crossing over Piney Creek on an impressive steel trestle. Also of interest, that center tower marks the dividing line between Central Standard Time and Eastern Standard Time. So for a brief period of time, each locomotive is in a different time zone!

There are only a couple places along the Split Rock Side Trail where you get a clear view. This is the more accessible of the two. (For the other view, please go back one in my photostream.)

It seems to me that the leaves were more colourful this fall than in recent years, although by the time I took this, they were already a little past their peak. There seem to be indications that the phenomenon was widespread across eastern North America. I'd love to get your observations in the comments below!

Day 170. Just a bit of fun.

The morning light is unmatched in my opinion; it’s got those crisp warm tones with cool shadows. I managed to get a shoot in on my way to work earlier this week; usually the traffic eats it during my commute but this past Monday was 30min early! There are these large culverts that seem abandoned in a vacant field that made for an interesting backdrop here. #toyphotography #acidrainworld #joecowtoy #luggans
