Split Cinder Cone. This small volcanic cone was formed during a mid-Pleistocene eruption along the Southern Death Valley Fault Zone. Subsequent movement along the right-lateral fault has split the cone. The western part of the cone (right) has been displaced about 90 meters northward. The very basic HY van was designed by André Lefèbvre (France, 1894-1964), Flaminio Bertoni (Italy, 1903-1964) and Pierre Franchiset, and introduced at the October 1947 Paris Car Salon. Throughout its entire life the design stayed almost the same. Still we can recognize some changes.
Some characteristics of the early Phase I model: split windscreen (replaced in early 1964), big sized chevrons on the bonnet (changed to shorter ones in late 1964), narrow vertical rear window with curved corners (changed to a wider square one in Febr. 1963), and semi-circular rear wings (replaced by rectangular ones in Nov. 1969).
Later models were called HY.
French HY vans kept suicide doors till the very end of production. For the Dutch market conventional front hinged doors were introduced in 1968.
Lots of vans have survived as camper or as food truck, as in this photo.
If the info linked to the license plate is correct, then this van would be one of the last HYs ever produced.

Conrail SD60M 5505 was a few months old as it led train PIED-1 along the Middle Division in 1993.
After the split in 1999, it went on to CSX as their 8758 before being retired and sold to LTEX in 2017.
Split's early history, revolves around a Greek settlement founded between the 3rd and 4th century BC. Its most famous historical development, however, came in 295 AD when Roman emperor Diocletian ordered a residence to be built for his retirement, as it was close to the large Roman settlement, Salona.
It took ten years to build this magnificent palace and Diocletian lived there until he died in 313 AD. After his death, many Roman rulers continued to use it as a retreat although by the later part of the 6th century it had fallen into disrepair.
Today, the palace is bustling with shops, restaurants, and three thousand local inhabitants who live and work inside this wondrous city-scape. Split, Croatia

Djordje Balasevic u pratnji supruge Olivere u obilasku veslackog kluba Gusar.
Balasevicevi stihovi "Srce je ludi GUSAR" prosle godine su koristeni za proslavu 100 obljetnice HVK Gusar pa su ga tim povodom i pozvali u obilazak svoga kluba.
Drugi povod je bio sto je majka Olivere Balasevic bila zaposlenica veslackog kluba "Begej Zrenjanin" pa Olivera jako dobro zna sto VK Gusar predstavlja u sportu.

I liked the texture of this. I look at it and can still almost smell the cut wood and the fires made from it!
The house I grew up in, taken soon after it was built in 1965. A typical mid-century split level home, just about every surburban housing development in offered one.

Maybe in some parts of the world, splitting wood is easy, but I grew up with the adage "Split your own wood and warm yourself twice" - once when you split it and again when you burn it. This stubborn piece of oak had me going. In fact, I had buried an inch of a wedge into the chopping block before I realized it had gone all the way through. Then, it took some work to remove the wedges so I could flip the hunk over and work at it from the other side.
This little tree can't seem to make up its mind about what color it wants to be. Isn't it great? OM 90mm at probably f4
EN: The sun has only just risen over the mountaintops in Dalmacija near Split. Overnight service B 1840 from Vukovar has been on the move since 16:49 the previous day although the loco 2044 013 by HŽPP has only been pulling the train since 22:30. The train is nearing its destination Split without any bigger delays. It can be seen descending the Karst mountains near Sadine. The passengers can already see the adriatic sea, at least if they're awake already.
DE: Die Sonne hat sich gerade erst über die Bergspitzen Dalmatiens erhoben. Nachtzug B 1840 aus Vukovar ist seit 16:49 Uhr des vorherigen Tages unterwegs, auch wenn die Zuglok erst um 22:30 Uhr die Traktion übernommen hat. Die Garnitur nähert sich dem Endbahnhof Split ohne größere Verspätungen und rollt hier die Rampe von den Höhen der Karstberge hinab. Die Reisenden können bereits die Adria sehen, zumindest wenn sie schon aufgewacht sind.
