I've been shooting the entire line of Estelina's Spa Products -- lotions, potions, oils, and cremes. For their use, the shots are straight-ahead, "use-anywhere" product shots with the entire background/foreground going to drop-out white. With ALL the combinations of individual products, groups by flavor, various kits, etc, it's gonna be over 300 final shots. Big project! Fortunately I'm done with most of them.
strobist info: Yesterday I was shooting these bottles. It's turned off here, but I had a 28x28 Westcott Apollo softbox with an Alien Bee on a boom arm close in, overhead and to the front for main lighting. Behind, I had a Vivitar 285 aimed down to blast out the background, but had it scrimmed off so it did not blast through the bottles. I was tweaking that scrim with the main light off when I saw the shot below. It looked pretty cool so I played with the position of the Vivitar. Eventually, I decided to try for some limited DOF so I added a cir-pol for some ND and was able to shoot wide open, but didn't really gain anything creatively. As well, I went the other way and stopped down to f/32. You can see some stars on the shoulders of the bottles. Rotating the polarizing filter changed the way some of the reflections appeared on the foreground. That was a cool addition to creative tweaking, so I'm thinking now I should always use a cir-pol when shooting tabletop product.
I did a shot like this last year in my kitchen sink. i thought I would try it this year in my studio and then discovered that my studio flash isn't of short enough duration to stop the water and i had to revert to using my Canon Speedlite.
This is a sheet of perspex that I am dropping the water onto, and this accounts for the small splashes. Also, very difficult to get the water to drop in exactly the right place and we are talking about very minimal depth of field, even at f/11

The "Yucatan" splash ride thing at Italy's Rainbow MagicLand park.
(Some trickery involved - 2 exposures - to get two boats splashing at the same time, it doesn't really do that).
HDR effect thru Lightroom and Photomatix.
The composition of the bottle could be better. This photo looks like it has a little distortion towards the bottom. This photo is one of many of my series of learning splash photography I really enjoy it. This is the only photo I have ever done with selective coloring. I like how I did it that way instead of taking an entire color image and making one thing color. sense it has only a few colors it works well. It more desaturated than anything.

This is my first try at this type of shot, and it turns out it is a little harder than it looks. Toughest part was getting a nice looking splashback with the liquid. May take a few more tomorrow to work on reducing the highlights on the glass.
Any other suggestions on how to better this shot would be greatly appreciated.
How about a splash of red in the midst of yellows and greens? This is SOOC except for a tiny Levels adjustment and a minor crop. I hope you have a great Friday and weekend.
She was much more enthused when they went to the splash pad, which featured all sorts of sprinkler-y things.
We took the kids to the splash pad here on post today. They had a blast. I am posting many shots from today. Some I think are print worthy for our album, others are just of the kids having a good time. Hope everyone enjoys!

Haciendo ejercicios de velocidad. TodavÃa no logro que me quede bien enfocado el splash =/. Tiene algo de ruidito pero me gusta. ♥
Speed exercise, a little bit of noise but I like it :)
Last summer I tried to take a splash shot. I searched the best splash shots on flickr and I noticed that the background played an important role. I opted for this background, I studied the light, I bought a liter of milk, a peach and I did two experiments. This one was the first and the best one too. I took several shots exploiting the 6.5 frame/sec feature of my canon 40d. No one of the taken shots persuaded me so I was really disappointed above all because it was quite demanding cleaning the floor. Browsing the shots on the computer I had the idea of join all the shots to give the feeling of a movie. I hope you enjoy it.
The Class of 2015 participated in the annual Senior vs. Faculty volleyball game, after which they enjoyed a water slide and snacks on the field.
