Photo 3rd position contest ACQUA-WATER (Vox Populi GROUP)

The Mallard bursts into flight, showcasing the exceptional raw power needed to launch directly from the water. Unlike many birds that require a running start to gain momentum, Mallards rely on a perfectly synchronized thrust of their webbed feet and powerful wings, executing a swift and dynamic takeoff.

Notice that the bill is almost completely black. The bill of a Mallard chick is almost entirely black at birth and remains dark as they grow. However, after they can fly, usually around three to four months, the bill changes color. Males develop bright yellow bills, while females have a mix of black spots on an orange bill.

On the road near São Vicente going to Seixal: With a high tide you can see the waves splashing everywhere, even onto to road. Quite spectacular.

Just liked how aqua green the sea was today showing off the white splashing against the fallen pier

In the past I have experimented with water splash techniques using flash, but for this exercise I wanted to capture the natural light in particular the suns rays into the droplets. After some failed attempts at low ISO I had to increase so as to aid in much faster shutter speeds, hope you like it.

The bright yellow blooms of forsythia in the early spring appear like sunshine in the garden. I am uploading a series of these close-up photos that I experienced with my different lenses to demonstrate their unique effect. Hope you like them :)

Fishhook Creek splashes through an open area into summer. Hard to find an open area, as willows and vegetation abound on the banks in the high country. Thanks for looking and a happy weekend and holiday to all.

Having some fun in the sun with the camera.
