Spindle-spun Superwash BFL which I dyed in 'Apple Blossom' colours. This is about 225 metres of dk weight yarn, I'm planning to make some (small) socks with it.

Just received this purple heart wood turkish spindle for Valentine's day. It's so cool to know there's a real hardwood called purple heart! It's a thing of beauty. I shall endevour to collect more of it.
I've also been spinning cotton on the tahkli spindle and will be trying to make my own charkha. That project might take a while though...

Spindle fruits (Euonymus europaeus). Reflected in mirror.
The wood of this tree is very hard and can be cut to a very sharp point - in the past it was used to make spindles for spinning wool. Its fruits are one of the more colourful highlights of an English wood in autumn.
Vigorous native green-stemmed deciduous shrub or small tree with inconspicuous flowers in May.
Can be very showy in autumn with red leaves and masses of rose-red capsules attractive to birds. Also Food plant of the Holly Blue butterfly.
The tree has also been known as Prickwood, Skewerwood (due to being made into toothpicks) and Pincushion Shrub. The name euonymous associates the plant with Euonyme, who was the Mother of the Fairies. It is a favourite tree of robins, so much so that it is also known as Robins' bread.
Was traditionally used in spindles for looms. Charcoal was made from the young shoots and also used in making gunpowder. Pegs have also been made from the wood. The fruits (which are poisonous) yield a yellow dye when boiled in water, or green if boiled in alum.
§P¡NdLe is a [project|object] that [combines|confuses] skateboarding with music. The [movement/acceleration] of the skateboard is being transformed into sound synthesis. The sound engine is designed to be both, trivial and non-trivial. The [trivial|direct] translation acts as an additional channel to your mind-body coordination while the non-trivial aspect is there to provide the skateboard with a [memory|internal states] of your ride. It will add up to a climax as long as the movement of the skateboard does not contain too much noise.

Oval leaves with smooth, wavy margins arranged in opposite pairs on green twigs that often have ridges. The very characteristic fruit will help by late summer.

This chair, ornamented with turnings of repeated barrel, flattened ball, and baluster shapes, is of a distinctive type associated with areas of Dutch cultural influence in New York and northern New Jersey. Its overall design and turned motifs, including the urn-and-flame finials, are based on a form of chair that was popular in the Netherlands during the second half of the seventeenth century. This type of turned chair derived its basic format from that of fashionable seventeenth-century upholstered chairs.

Photographed in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. I think this is one of the most beautiful Autumn sights in this country.
This unique 1.4 ounce (41grams) moose antler bottom whorl drop spindle has been intricately carved by Dave with his signature rose and leaf motif. The whorl measures 1 7/8 inches in diameter, and the purpleheart shaft is 9 1/2 inches in length. A brass hook has been added to the top, and a steel bumper to the bottom.
