One of my favorite drop spindles for worsted weight yarns

This spindle is used in fisheries management to examine Coded-Wire Tags (CWTs) which have been extracted from fish. The tag is the thin piece of metal protruding from the tip, it is held on magnetically.

This is my second drop spindle design! The 1.3 ounce spindle is great for spinning fingering weight yarns. Made of cut acrylic and oak, it's as much fun to watch the spindle as it is to create yarn.

Actually a crochet hook holder by Fancy Kitty but works well for my smaller spindles.

Bizarre pink and orange fruit of the spindle is very abundant this year.

One of my other loves is stained glass and particularly Tiffany Lamps. Armed with an Ashford Classic spindle, my copy of 'The Lamps of Tiffany' and some patience, and this is the result! (The flowers are from Tiffany's 'Clematis' design.)

Spindle tree! I found a small tree at the edge of my woods. They have bright pink pods which have opened to reveal orange-coated seeds. I suspect that this was planted by birds, since it is only found here as an ornamental shrub.

My lovely new Golding ringspindle, 28g, antique rose whorl, walnut. The fibre is a wool/silk/angora mix- so soft!

Abigail is new to the addiction of spinning. She's using a drop spindle meant for very very thin yarn; and she's making beautiful stuff with it!

Huso de 30-35 gr, customizado.

That's the spindle that got everything else started. It's the first spindle I've ever purchased and it came with a little bag of pastel colored wool.

It's probably made out of beech wood and weighs about 50 grams.
