I woke up this morning
I looked outside my window
Where children lighting up the Christmas tree
And the snow is falling
It reminds me of the good times
Those winters we would spend just you and me
It's been such a long time
But tomorrow's Christmas day
And I am on my way
Spending a little time for a rose.
Used some Topaz filter and a texture from Melissa Gallo!!
Wish you a lovely new week!!

The yellow billed cuckoos are a fascinating little bird and they love spen ding time together sitting close together on a branch. It brought a smile to my face and I could not help but think they are certainly conserving space. They could not be closer !! Fun to see as they fly about the farms in the Campos !
Wishing you a lovely and blessed evening !
After spending a few hours on Mormon Row to catch sunrise, I drove a bit farther back along Antelope Flats Road and hiked out onto the prairie to capture this image of a bison leading his gang (that's really what they're called) across the flat, and away from the areas where tourists usually inhabit during the day.
The gang was moving pretty fast, not stopping much to forage, so I wasn't able to make an image of them directly in front of the iconic Cathedral Group. After seeing this movement, I walked back to my Jeep and noticed two isolated bison across the road. In probably my riskiest move of the entire trip, I hiked to within about 75 yards of those two, but was unable to catch a clean image, as they kept in pretty tall brush, and repeatedly laid down. There was no iconic background from my vantage, as the mountains were at my back. Figuring I had a pretty good day, I decided not to press my luck further and returned to the Jeep in search of more landscape images.
Yayyy!!! Good morning!!!
Let's spend it with a smile happily this week ( *´꒳`*)੭⁾⁾💝

Spending a vacation week with the "kids" and grandkids, my schedule shifted and I found myself up before sunrise every morning. The skies and clouds at Lanikai Beach were often so dramatic with the sunrise, sunset, rain and rainbows.
After spending some time in the center of the city, we walked over to a place overlooking the Cuyahoga River to enjoy the sunset. On our way there, we looked back and were able to capture the golden light reflecting off the skyscrapers. The building at the center with a red key on top, is the Key Tower - it is the tallest building in Ohio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_Tower
If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine

With Valentine’s day in mind, I wanted to post a love theme photo without the usual hearts and flowers theme. So here’s my Valentine’s day photo: two companions bracing the incoming storm together while enjoying the sunshine during its brief existence - “I’m your rock, and you’re my rock.”
Happy Valentine's Day!
Since I spend a lot of time on planes I always kick myself for not having my camera close at hand as there are always so many opportunities to make a great photo. Perfect example was the trip home from Salt Lake City where on approach to land at DIA we were in the most spectacular cloud sandwich. With only my phone I tried to capture this beautiful scene - not great but still beautiful! You can read more about my trip below where I gave a Stegner Center Green Bag Series Lecture - very fun!

Last weekend was the beginning of a new moon, so I decided to run up to Joshua Tree and spend the day exploring the most popular tourist attractions and the night running around the park making photos.
This is the Ancient Juniper which sits next to balanced rock across from Jumbo Rocks Campground. I tried a composition that included both the juniper and the rock but the light pollution in that direction is horrendous. I'm now trying to figure out what time of year the city of Palm Springs has the least amount of lights on. I have noticed that the Light pollution there has increased noticeably since the eighties. Let just hope the International Dark-Sky Association along with everyones participation can do something to help minimize light pollution. :)
I have never shot a star trail before this and have up till this point done everything I can to prevent star stretch. And I have always felt uncomfortable at the thought of leaving my shutter open for an hour or more. Then I heard about a program called StarStax which allows you to shoot a series of shorter exposures and combine the result into one photo. I read that to get a circle you need to point your camera at the North Star or Polaris which is the technical name for it. I used an app on my phone called Star Walk which gives you a realtime view of the current night sky at your location and doesn't require a cellphone signal. It also allows you do do a search for a star name, so I just punched in Polaris and the app present me with arrows of which way to point my camera The whole sky rotates around this point creating the center of the stretch. This is 100-30 second exposures combined in StarStax for the sky and a 20 second exposure for the foreground. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

After spending hour at dam for nice sunset, the things did not work out, so finally left, as i was driving away, my eyes caught the glimpse of bright blue light in sky, so pulled over and took this shot. I think the wait and persistence paid off!

I didn't spend much time in the city but I did want to try a pano from Pier 14 and Pier 7. It was a very rainy day. The rain finally subsided for about an hour and then started right after I got this. It was a very wet, windy and cold walk back to my hotel. This is the new boundary wrap pano feature in LRCC. If the weather had been better I am sure a lot more people would have been on the pier so maybe it was just as well that the weather wasn't that great.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
After spending some time scouting The Queen's Garden Loop Trail on my 2nd day, I returned later that evening and ran across this unique looking tree and it reminded me of the photos i've seen of the old gnarled tree in Schulman Grove in the Bristlecone Forest, which still sits on my bucket list. This one turned out a bit grainy even though I used some light panels and ISO 1600 to minimize the noise but I thought it still looked interesting. I still have a lot to learn and this is part of the road to MW nirvana which still eludes me. I suspect it's the fact that I have a crop sensor camera when I really should be using a Full Frame for this kind of photography, or it could be operator malfunction and inexperience. I probably won't know until I upgrade, I'm holding out for the 6D Mrk II which should be out spring 2016. :)
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week ahead everyone :)

I'm spending a lot of time with the birds at the moment...
It's cold.. they're hungry. In return for food, I get to photograph them. It's a good equation :-)
I think this one probably has a leg injury, otherwise these birds rest and sleep standing up. But it looked content... calm. I'm sure it was enjoying the light.
Comments off for this one...
with my thanks for the quiet company :-)

You spend your nights alone
And he never comes home
And every time you call him
All you get's a busy tone
I heard you found out
That he's doing to you
What you did to me
Ain't that the way it goes
When you cheated girl
My heart bleeded girl
So it goes without saying that you left me feeling hurt
Just a classic case
A scenario
Tale as old as time
Girl you got what you deserved
And now you want somebody
To cure the lonely nights
You wish you had somebody
That could come and make it right
But girl I ain't somebody with a lot of sympathy
You'll see
(What goes around comes back around)

To spend time, lots of time over a meal with friends. To share wine and conversation, and to let both bring forth much laughter...well, what a true pleasure that is!

After spending time investigating Roberts Creek, I drove along the coastal road and found the Roberts Creek Provincial Park. This entire area attracts a good deal of tourism in the summer so this time of year finds those same places somewhat empty of people. Except for one other person, this place was mine to play in.
After many angles, and numerous shots, this is the image that was in my mind. The sweeping stone stairs on a hill had drawn my attention, with the carpet of Autumn leaves laying undisturbed. Their vivid colors were in stark contrast to the grey stairs, while the fence and green foliage would support them in the background. I wanted to exaggerate the stairs and how they swept across the view so getting close with a wide angle lens was necessary. It was a fun afternoon with the time needed to find what lay behind the camera.

Spending time in the country drinking in its rural beauty is an instant detox and pick-me-up. The serenity of nature and wildlife calmly doing its own thing is magical. Time outside; even if it's not really outside but in a car perturbing roads less known rarely fails to leave me feeling centred.

This was one of the first pictures and the chopper and the ship made a great collection. Rescue at sea. , lighthouses and chopper... You get the picture:-)

Spending a beautiful day at the amazing Andrew Hayden Park in Ottawa, Canada! Best viewed large! Enjoy your day my friends, happy new week =)
Im spending more time trying to look for the smaller details in the landscape when I go out. I know these type of photos won't generate as many likes as the grander landscapes but to be honest that does not bother me. Im finding shooting them quite satisfying and Im enjoying examining the details of nature a little closer!
After spending some time doing long exposures on our one and only morning at the Grundlsee it was already pretty bright and I thought about going back to our room, but luckily I did not. I still walked around and took a few snapshots and as I packed my gear the sun all of a sudden peaked above the mountains. I quickly took my camera out of my bag and decided to take some images without the tripod since setting up the tripod would have taken too long. In hindsight, it would have been nice to take a panorama, but since I didn't expect this to happen I just had a single image which I cropped to 2:1. Anyway, I really like the colors, the sunstar and the cute little duck :) Hope you like it too!
Most of you know I have a small obsession with feathers. I just love their patterned, colourful beauty and intricacy. When my nephew is with me, he and I spend a lot of time on our walks looking at the ground!
I found these blue beauties across the road from my home. I think they've most likely become detached from a Crimson Rosella, although there are a few other possible candidates. And yes, the feathers really are that blue.
