Join us as we spend the weekend onboard a DFDS Ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam on an Amsterdam Mini Cruise.

Check out the Full video from the trip here: youtu.be/HzDrc_kiC58

We spend three days on a return trip from Newcastle to Amsterdam and in this video we do a full tour of the ship so you know what to expect if you plan on taking this trip in the future.

We set sail on DFDS's Kings Seaways from North Shields (near Newcastle). After checking into our room we then went to the top deck to view our departure.

We then go for a full tour of the ship and visit the bars, shops, arcade, night club, wildlife observation centre, cafe, etc.

We spend all evening looking around and then have a picnic in our room instead of going to the buffet restaurant.

We have an inside room with 4 beds (2 bunk beds).

The next morning the sea is rough and we feel a bit sick but still go for breakfast which was included in our package.

We then arrive at Amsterdam (IJmuiden Ferry Terminal) we get a transfer into the city where we spend the next few hours.

We are dropped off near Amsterdam Central Station and walk into the centre of the city. First we get some Frites (fries) to eat followed by some ice cream.

Our first attraction is the RijksMuseum. The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of the Netherlands and is dedicated to Dutch arts and history. We got to see some paintings by Dutch Masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh.

Next we went to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, we only toured here for a short time as we were on a strict time schedule.

We got a late lunch at an Italian restaurant before heading back to the ship on the bus transfer provided.

After we got back on board we waited on the top deck to see us depart and then we spent the evening touring around the ship again and spending time in the Columbus Bar night club.

The next morning the weather was a lot better and the sun was out as we cruised up the British coast.

We arrived back into North Shields on time and departed the boat which took almost an hour to go through security.

Here is proof that President Obama's Stimulus program is being put to good use.

Spending a week in September with Québec First Nation Tribes, we have learned a great deal about the cultural practices and ways of living of the Cree, Wendat, Ilnu and other nations that have lived here before European settles arrived. A very interesting journey I'll soon share more on my blog about! Follow #QCAboriginal in order to learn more :)

Spending the day on the shores of Lake Superior, on a cool and mysterious day.

My grandmother spends her days sitting at the dinning room table, reading or solving search-a-word puzzles. Two years earlier she had fallen down the stairs, suffering a brain injury and a broken back.

“You know I have three photo albums filled with pictures of you when you were a baby upstairs.”

“I guess this is payback then.”

“Maybe, but you were being silly in those. I’m just sitting here being an old hag, she takes a breath considering her word puzzle for a moment, “ Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer to photograph your mother instead?”

This question seems to be almost normal after the fall partly due to a lack of self-confidence. She remembers what she used to be able to do before the fall, and due to short-term memory loss she doesn’t think she can do anything else. She doesn’t remember the blanket she wove in May or the cake she baked in July. She doesn’t believe she is worth any attention. However, underneath the uncertainty is a hint of the fun-loving woman she once was.

‘The Political Reporter’ is a new media installation by Boone, NC-based artist Mark Nystrom that generates random, but intriguing statements with words found on political websites and in the media. Sources include the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns, the Democratic and Republican parties, bloggers and the news media.

‘The Political Reporter’ animates a cloud of letters and periodically makes statements. These images are screen grabs taken while ‘The Political Reporter’ was running on Election Day and the day after.

Letters from words gathered from conservative sources are colored red and ones from liberal sources are blue. ‘The Political Reporter’s’ vocabulary includes over 70,000 words, but only 300 appear on the screen at any given time. As words are used to make statements, they are replaced by randomly chosen new ones from the list of 70,000.

Spend 4 days, walk around Singapore with my husband + his family. We had so much fun!

Spending the Day with Brad, Chris, and Colleen at Nattering Springs as Sachiko meets Asher.

While spending the day with my friend Poppy, we ended up at the Crawford Long Museum. One of its rooms has been converted into an old drugstore from the time of Crawford Long. So me being a sucker for this kind of thing had to grab a capture of all of the old canned goods neatly displayed on the shelf. For some reason, I love old labels and packaging. Anyway, I will always take a picture of a shelf of old stuff.
