I bought a 7-speed Shimano Nexus for my bike. I didnt like it that much. It felt like stepping in quicksand. Anyhow, it broke so I'm back to singlespeed forever, I love it.

Dear Runkeeper, look at these two screenshots from my iPhone 5 using the most current app version. One I took just as I ended my run, showing 7.66 miles, and another a few minutes later, showing 8.47 miles. That is the same run, yet two different results. This is not the first time Runkeeper has "auto-adjusted" after I finish a run.
This error is very frustrating as I think I'm doing a slower pace over a shorter distance so I'm wondering why I am so tired and then boom! It turns out I ran farther and faster than the app indicated.

I took all these photos on Saturday, April 16, 2016. My friend- Vern- asked me if I'd like to come take photos. I said I'd probably be able to do one day. Next year, I plan on going all three days.
For three days, different blacksmiths from around the world (there were some from Denmark, England, and even Australia) compete by making different horseshoes. Each round lasts an hour and they start with two flat pieces of metal. Where you see two-man teams is a novice. Novice blacksmiths have a more experienced blacksmith run their fire for them. They also do speed rounds, where they get 14 minutes to make a horseshoe after looking at a cadaver hoof for ten seconds.
Today, I am scanning some slides I took in India a couple of years ago ... and I couldn't resist to uploading these two road signs I saw in Ladakh on our way to Lamayuru Monastry ...
So my wife just started taking a photography class. Their first assignment involved getting outside of your head and framing shots differently then you would naturally. So while she was out working on her assignment, I decided to try and get outside of my head.
I find it is easy to get into ruts. It's hard for me to continue to take the same type of image without burning out creatively. I'm not quite sure why, but I feel like I only really grow when I am applying myself in areas I don't normally think about. Perhaps working out a problem I don't usually solve gives a new perspective on the ones I do. I don't know.
So yesterday, in an effort to get outside of my head, I spent several hours shooting the lines and light of the Fremont Bridge on-ramps.
Different subject matter.
Different lenses - strictly used my 50mm prime.
Different process - Shot handheld or with a pinhole (we'll see how those work).
Different processing.
In short, I did everything differently then I would normally. At least what has been normal for the last year or so. And you know what? It was refreshing. Thinking about the lines of the bridges, the shadows and light and how it interacts with the structure, the textures of the weathered concrete.
The experience got me thinking, it is safe to work within the norm. Patterns and process are tools to help you create. They can be a fantastic, reliable way to capture a fleeting moment. They can also be a static crutch that creatively boxes you in. In a lot of ways tripods produce safe images. When changing perspective means adjusting or moving the tripod, it slows down the process and reduces the options that get tried. I'm not saying that you should throw away your tripod or just abandon all process, but that you should be aware of how these things impact your art.
Corri su un rettilineo, senti la strada che bruccia sotto di te, credici. Alza lo sguardo. E' solo una la ruota che si alza da terra, quella davanti però, quella che prima incontrerà il metro successivo che sai in un attimo sarà già tuo.
