SCLOrk (the Santa Clara Laptop Orchestra) is an innovative ensemble of up to sixteen players dedicated to the creation and performance of live electronic music. Created in the Spring of 2012 by SCU faculty Bruno Ruviaro and students, this interdisciplinary group explores the intersection of music composition, live performance, human/computer interaction, programming, and sound design, with emphasis on musical creativity based on cutting-edge technologies.

Onze nieuwe host van de avond is Ivan Hidayat, filmmaker bij Het Shot.
Filmcafe - een avondvullend programma in de sfeervolle Clubzaal van de gastvrije Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch. Interviews met de filmgasten afgewisseld met filmfragmenten en muzikale verrassingen geïnspireerd op filmmuziek door Dj Losse Veter. Voor een exclusief kijkje achter de schermen van de filmwereld en om in contact te komen met de gedreven filmmakers! Interessant voor filmmakers én nieuwsgierige filmliefhebbers. Bar is open tijdens het filmcafé, entree is gratis.
Het eerste Nieuwe Filmers filmcafé in dit seizoen met vijf gasten uit de filmwereld! De prijswinnende Ronny van der Veer geluidsartiest, gespecialiseerd in foley [geluidseffecten], over zijn werkwijze en de betekenis van geluid in film. Hij zal tijdens het filmcafé demonstreren hoe en waarmee hij geluiden voor film maakt. In de serie Brabantse filmreleases zijn te gast regisseur Harry Verbeek en producent Monne Tuinhout, de makers van de recent uitgekomen dansfilm ‘Naar Huis’. Ze tonen fragmenten uit de film en vertellen hoe deze bijzondere film tot stand is gekomen. Met Jan Wouter Stam production sound mixer van ‘Naar Huis’ praten we over de betekenis van setgeluid voor de film. In de rubriek Intermezzo geeft Wouter Jansen, van Some Shorts festival distribution, waardevolle filmdistributie tips voor korte films t.b.v. de komende One Week korte films.

Tinkering around with sounds and voices is both taxing and enjoyable at the same time. Learning how to master and level audio properly here. Experimenting with all the different ways sound design can be applied has been thrilling. Overdubbing movie trailers, playing with chopped up songs, voicing radio grabs, or doing journalism projects.

FX-A has a bunch of editable parameters. Again, buttons A-F corresponds to the parameter named above them. In the case of the reverb I'm editing here, "RevTM" refers to the reverb time. Setting larger numbers makes for a larger sounding space.

Out of countenance is a dialogue between two faces, deformed and transformed by a digital process into something strange, obsolete. The facial expressions are exaggerated and amplified, drew in a 3-Dimensional space, bringing the common feeling of expression in a different and distorted perception. The human face as known looses its physiognomy, allowing the other face to overlap, mix, fuse within it, turning into a digital creature, an extension of the human being in the digital era.
Two performers stands in front of their computer, positioned one to the extreme left and the other at the extreme right of the stage. The computers capture the performers faces thru their internal webcams, generating an interactive video flow that is projected on a screen. The projection screen fills the whole stage standing between the two performers. The two computers generate also an interactive audio flow. The performers interact with the system thru their movement, the expressions and distortions of their faces, generating different visuals and sounds.
The software in use in the two computers is created within MaxMSP/Jitter, two different patches are running on each computer.
The video images are captured in realtime by the two webcams, combined in different ways, distorted in time and space and transposed in a 3d environment.
Video and audio are always related, in sync and always interacting between each other.
The audio has different natures, pre-made, modified in realtime, realtime generated and generated via webcam interaction. The two software contained in both computer act as one audio visual generating flux and it has a fix time schedule that permit the performance development to have a precise order and execution.

About the play:
Newlyweds Zoe and Kash are on a mission to have a baby. From sex schedules to dodgy under-the-counter remedies, increasingly desperate antics begin to take over their lives. With every aspect of their schedules, diets and sex lives revolving around conception, relationship cracks seem inevitable. If they do successfully conceive, what will this mean for Kash’s fledgling acting career? If they don’t, how will Zoe get over losing what she feels is her true purpose in life?
Meanwhile, empty-nesters Charlie and Naomi are facing a different matrimonial challenge, and it looks terminal. Charlie is bewildered that his wife does not share his excitement at finally having the house to themselves. Naomi can’t remember what attracted her to Charlie in the first place. Lacking any meaningful connection in her life, she heads to the gym, where she finds "connection" aplenty in the shape of Rocco, a personal trainer 20 years her junior.
Richard Molloy’s darkly funny drama explores the ups and downs, hilarity and awkwardness that accompany the heart-wrenching journey of trying to conceive.
