We used this depth sounder a lot "back in the day." It still works, and though it never was as sensitive as modern devices that I've used, it was fine for it's real purpose, figuring out lake-bottom topography. Graph units are a lot better for use in a moving boat, but back then, portable graph units didn't exist (and the ones that did exist actually printed the graph on paper!).
Milford Sound, New Zealand.
Some info from WIki:
Milford Sound (Piopiotahi in Māori) is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey, and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination.
This was the sound guy working on Starship Dave which was being filmed at the Statue of Liberty. (updated 06/22/08) Apparently the film has been renamed, "Meet Dave" is the title.
The last place our cruise visited in New Zealand was Milford Sound on the South Island. It was a beautiful afternoon and once again I couldn't help but notice the similarities to some places on the British Columbia coast.

These orcas are from a transient pod seen in Bellingham Bay in WA. This is the first sighting of orcas within Bellingham Bay since 1952. Usually the orcas are much further out in Puget Sound toward the Straits of Juan de Fuca.
