In November 2014 we installed a 4200 W Solaflex tracking array of photovoltaics. Photos in this album document it through the year.

On the day depicted here, just before the winter solstice, we generated 21.1 kWhr of power... not bad!

IVANPAH, CALIFORNIA, APRIL 05 2013: An aerial view of Tower 1 and its heliostats at the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility. The top of Tower 1's is "lit" as steam blow tests are in progress. Located in the Mojave Desert 40 miles southwest of Las Vegas, The Ivanpah Solar Power Facility is a solar thermal power project, currently under construction, with a planned capacity of 392 megawatts, enough to power approximately 140,000 houses. It will deploy 170,000 heliostat mirrors spread over 4,000 hectares, focusing solar energy on boilers located atop three solar power towers, generating steam to drive specially adapted steam turbines The project, developed by Bechtel, will cost $2.2 billion and be the largest solar farm in the world (photo Gilles Mingasson/Getty Images for Bechtel).

Debris Removal vessels are equipped with a hydraulic front end loader with a mesh basket. These loaders have been designed so that they can pick debris directly out of the water and are controlled by the vessel operator. Just finished the installation of 26 Sanyo PV modules, producing a total of 5KW of solar electric. With the new net metering rules, which allow us to sell excess production in the summer, we should produce roughly 100% of our electricity. Thank you to SolarWorks, the state of Massachusetts for two separate $10,000 grants, and the Federal Bailout Package, which increases the federal tax credit to 20% of our final cost. I'm also pretty tickled to see these panels on a roof that was framed in 1830.

Beijos e bom feriado!

Pupils with sunflowers seeds.

Each "solar sunflower" will generate modest amounts of electricity and also serve as a tool for students to learn about the benefits of renewable energy. Similar devices are being installed at schools in Dubrovnik, Hvar, Zadar, Kaštel Lukšić, Krk, Pula, Križevci, Zagreb, Ivanić-Grad and Vukovar. Education on renewable energy will be provided at the ten schools by the DOOR Association and the Eko Kvarner NGO.
