My remote flash trigger turned up today, so I got snappin!

Snappin' necks.

Cashin' checks.

1. I decided to flip this image so that it would look like Yonna is taking a picture of himself. 2. The greatest aspect is the fact that it looks like he is taking a picture of himself

Oh what a night it was in the land of Swirl'n mic Mad-ness! From the get-go we knew this inaugural kick-off at the NEW Absinthe Lounge was gonna be one to remember!

As Swirve started their jazzy madness, the crowd found their way into and filled the VIP lounge with their heads boppin' and their fingers snappin'. As the last notes were fading away, hosts Johnny O & MH Clay opened up the stage to our featured the mad-tastic dynamic duo Opalina Salas & Maggie Smith. There was no doubt that they would deliver a must-see kinda show and sure enough, it was something mighty divine to see and feel! If you were there, you know what we mean. If not, well... your loss, truly. Sorry.

After a brief intermission, the mic got opened up to the mad ones who filled the Lounge and what a night of the beat-utifullest poetry and music ensued! Here’s a shout out to all who graced us with their words, their songs, their divine madnesses…

HUGE thanks to Swirve (Chris Curiel, Tamitha Curiel, & Gerard Bendiks) for keeping the beat til the wee hours of the night. We got taken to another dimension of time and space on the wings of their jazzy madness!

And as always, big THANKS to the patron saint of the loco local mad ones, Kevin, owner of Absinthe Lounge, who has allowed us to continue swirling our madness upon his stage.

And finally we would like to thank ALL of you who freely shared their hand claps, finger-snaps, hoots and howls with all the mad ones who got up on this sacred mad swirlin’ mic.

We look forward to ALL the m-adventures to come! Stay tuned…

By Bruce Springsteen

Last night I dreamed, that I was a child

Out where the pines grow, wild and tall

I was trying to make it home through the forest

Before the darkness falls

I heard the wind rustling, through the trees

And ghostly voices, rose from the fields

I ran with my heart pounding, down that broken path

With the devil, snappin' at my heels

I broke through the trees, and there in he night

My fathers house stood, shining hard and bright

The branches and brambles

Tore my clothes, and scratched my arms

But I ran till I fell, shaking, in his arms

I awoke and I imagined

The hard things that pulled us apart

Will never again, sir

Tear us from each others hearts

I got dressed, and to that house I did ride

From out on the road

I could see its windows shining in light

I walked up the steps, and stood on the porch

A woman I didn't recognize

Came and spoke to me through a chained door

I told her my story and who Id come for

She said "I'm sorry son,

but no one by that name lives here anymore."

My fathers house shines, hard and bright

It stands like a beacon, calling me in the night

Calling, and calling, so cold and alone

Shining cross this dark highway,

Where our sins lie unatoned

My books for summer class came yesterday. There are 700 pages between two covers, and i have to read them before the end of the month.

The National-Sorrow

Here are two Nile Crocodiles with open jaws at Murchison Falls National Park. In Australia, there are freshwater and saltwater crocodiles, and the salties are more dangerous. Some Australians call crocodiles "snappin' handbags."

Lazy afternoon, free of boards stuck to our feet, just happy snappin.

After my excellent morning chasing the NS OLS train; I got to go hang at Willie's Locally Known in Lexington to hear the incomparable Woody Pines, along with Thursday Night Honky Tonk regulars KY Hoss Cats.

If you don't know Woody Pines, fire up your search engine of choice or go directly to Youtube and look him up. Woody and the boys play the most infectious brand of boogie/folk/ragtime/bluegrass/Viper Jazz imaginable. As soon as you start to listen, your toes will start a tappin' and your fingers a snappin' and you will automatically have a wide grin etched upon your face.

And the next time you visit my fair town, be sure to pop in to Willie's for some rightous BBQ and live music.

Great backstory I need to share about Duncan- and how I discovered his work.

At The Old Town Art Fair in Chicago, I 1st started to notice Duncan's glass work.

He uses a technique of masking/sandblast- carving the glass,"blank"- reheating it- and re-blowing-

and after annealing- again- doing further carving..... called "The Grahl Technique"-

A technique used by an old colleague from many, many moons ago used-

Glassblower /Artist from Crete, Illinois- John Brekke.

When I mentioned that I saw a similarity to John Brekke's glass style-

Duncan shared a cool story w/ me. When he was visiting NYC's Urban Glass Studio- he was enthralled by Brekke's work.

Scared to approach him, and not wanting to ask-for-nothing-for-free.....Duncan cleverly offered to pay Brekke to teach him his technique. Not chump-change. Serious dough.

Duncan clearly knew that what Brekke knew had value- and was willing to PAY $$$ for that knowledge. Brekke needed to "think about it"- and- after a few weeks - relented.

(How many- "Artists" would ever think of that??- Brilliant!)

One day @ SOFA- I was stopping by Duncan's booth to say hello-

and saw my Dad's cousin Sylvia there -

and, their son Matt- and- as it turns out- their son Matt is a huge collector of Duncan's work- owning several of them- and have been to his studio and Gallery in Florida!

Who knew??

Small World- eh?

I miss San Francisco and NorCal...then again I don't !

We have free parking here where we live now...

No screamin' sirens 24/7, no crackheads snappin' off the tops of my sparkplugs on my motorcycle to make crack pipes....no junkies beggin' for the loose change...no traffic jams, no high occupancy vehicle lanes...no waiting on the damn elevator....

Miss the friends, people that well they are really cool and good too ! Chinatown, North Beach Beach, sitting out on the porch 26 stories up pointing laser pointers on the sidewalk freakin' people out...oh the fun we used to have.

Going to the HAPPY DONUT corner of Kearney and Columbus good Khmer people own that little joint....Bouncin' knotheads that came into the club lookin' to make trouble...walkin' my girls to the car makin' sure they got in safely...

Our nearset neighbors here in L.A. {Lower Arknsas} are deer, birds, squirrel, rabbit, a horse the neighboors dog...we can't see our nearest human neighbor when all the leaves are off the trees....we do have pesky red wasps, fire ants, and a few other undesirables.

Thanks to Emeral for snappin' this.

I love candy, so of course I wanted to check out the Showley Bros. Candy Factory. I imagined the inside would be a small bit of heaven: like a cross between Willy Wonka's factory and the candy convention from the Simpsons.

Only when I was going in for the shot did I notice that the Candy Factory was vacant and that the Comerica Bank building towered above it with swirling clouds of doom. Damn this economy.

Walkin', talkin', snappin' with the sublime Qua (smiling) a little over a week ago in Seattle Center. Lighting courtesy of late afternoon sun bouncing off Frank Gehry's Experience Music Project....

I've always been amazed by vines, how they reach out, hold on and start wrapping themselves around and around...

little hugging tendrils.

We were down the hollow today, visited the old church and cemetery,

had a nice walk in the crisp autumn air,

and those persimmons have still not fallen from the tree.

Again, I am stuck. No motivation what so ever so I don't bring the camera anywhere either. I thought that perhaps if I upload some old pictures I'll shake things loose and get snappin' again.

Snappin' pics before my shower. Have my hair up all cutesy like. Gives me ideas about a set.

walkin', talkin' & snappin with the amazing Qua in Seattle a couple of days ago....

At the studio, jammin and snappin.

she's only done this once or twice since louise passed away, curled up and sleeping on louise's favorite cushion...

and sophie would like to remind you to get those polas snappin'! get those scanners scannin'! next week is 'roid week '09!

happy furry friday!

The FPP guys spent a great morning at Ringwood Manor in Jersey walking around snappin' 'pitures'. Lots of fun.

Splash is handing the reins back to Ringo in 2015....

Splash (on left)...."But why? Don't you love me? I thought you said I was a good model now???"

Ringo (on right)...."Seriously? You think I'm going to take you back now? Remember this time last year when you dumped me for 'miss I don't like the camera'? What makes you think that after telling me 'Ringo, get out of the frame' for the past year you can just come waltzing back with your camera and start snappin' shots. I don't think so lady!"

No ones ever happy!! =)

Couldn't resist snappin' a candid of this colorful ol' boy at the state fair. A camo cap doesn't quite hide ya when you wear a shirt like that! Don't smoke, kids - this guy's only 36!

Decided to give the bugs a miss today and spend a couple of hours at Glastonbury. The kids had gone back to school so it was less crowded which made better snappin' :+))

I caught a few minutes of "G.I. Jane" on TV last night and when I heard this quote I thought it was so great that I had to share it with you.

-----------------------------------------

DEHAVEN

Commander, are you of the habit of letting photographers traipse around your base snappin' their fill? These were supposed to have been discreet test cases.

C.O.

Senator, they stand out on the public highway with telephoto lenses

DEHAVEN

And now I got reporters from Toadsquat, Iowa, calling my office and askin' what I know about this "G.I. Jane" thing.

C.O.

Nothing I can do about it unless you're suggesting I infringe on their civil liberties -- which I'd happily do if you'll just trim a little fat off the Constitution.

-----------------------------------------

It's funny, movie script writers understand civil liberties and the Constitution and yet some of the very people that we trust with protecting those liberties do not understand them.

new tat and new hair color. thanks to shawn for snappin a few of me during our shoot.

Moving in a new direction for Albert Pailey- his work was always BLACK (patina)....now-

he's adding spots of color- and even had a laser cut sculpture in YELLOW!

like "Harvester Tractor Yellow"

I always love to tell anyone who will listen-

"This guy Pailey- he moves that steel around like it's BUTTER"

(said w/ a New Jersey accent!)

After hiking down a 3,000ft chasm and back out again, I hitched a ride in this truck back to Cherrapunji, India. Here’s me snappin’ a meta selfie through the truck’s mirror. Purchase at shakyimages.tumblr.com
