Joy phoned me on my cellphone at work this week.

I look at my cellphone. This shot, taken by Joy that morning, was my phone's wallpaper.

(Apparently, when Joy decided to take the photo, Bacon was asleep too. However, by the time she'd worked out how to take a photo with my phone, he was just staring.)

The British Railways BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 is a class of steam locomotive designed for British Railways by Robert Riddles. The Class 9F was the last in a series of standardised locomotive classes designed for British Railways during the 1950s, and was intended for use on fast, heavy freight trains over long distances. It was one of the most powerful steam locomotive types ever built for British Railways, and successfully performed its intended duties. The class was given the nickname of 'Spaceships', due to its size and shape.

It's 'silly o'clock' at York station as two solitary young passengers head off for their 05:36 departure to Hull, which awaits them further along platform 7. CAF Class 195 195112 is being prepared for its service, the 1B15 06:12 York to Blackpool North, it's exhaust condensing into the sub-zero atmosphere beneath the station's magnificent overall roof. Already, my train from Manchester to get me to Newcastle is showing on the arrivals/departure board as 'cancelled', probably due to overnight snowfall in the north west, but fortuitously there is an 06:35 LNER service to get me to Newcastle ahead of the steam charter train leaving York at 06:00, but allowing only just enough time for me to make my way to St.Nicholas' Chambers at Amen Corner for the Newcastle departure shot!
