Trees, having a winter break...
Saturday, 6 January, 2018
On my way home from a shopping spree, I have to turn up into this road with these two beautiful trees. I thought they looked lovely with the setting sun behind them. (There is a flock of fieldfare to the left of shot.)
The weather and the light haven’t been very good, this weekend, so I thought I’d post an image from last weekend. Apparently, snow is on the way. I’ve booked a hotel in the town where I work - maybe get back home on Thursday, with any luck...

“Once there was a way, to get back home...
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.
Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise.
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.”
Lennon & McCartney - Elbow version (2017)
Class 45 diesel locomotive No. 45119 rests at London's St Pancras station, probably sometime in 1980.
For enthusiasts of a certain age, a trip to London back then almost inevitably included a tour of the major termini, especially those that saw the most loco-hauled action. It was on one such occasion that I shot this photograph. St Pancras has changed quite a bit since this time but the splendour of the architecture, courtesy Messrs Barlow and Scott, endures.

So, you're feeling unimportant,
'Cuz you've got nothing to say.
And your life is just a ramble
No one understand you anyway
Well, I got a piece of news son,
That might make you change your mind
Your life is historically meaningfull
And spans a significant time
Slumber will come soon
And you are helping to put it to sleep
Side by side we do our share
Faithfully assuring that
Slumber will come soon.
Well, now do you feel a little better
Lift up your head and walk away
Knowing we're all in this togeter
For such a short time anyway
There is just no time to parade around
Sulking, i would rather laugh than cry
The rich, the poor, the strong, the weak
We share this place together
And we pitch into help it die
I'm not too good at giving morals
And I don't fear the consequence
If life makes you scred and bitter
At least it's not for very long
Slumber will come soon.
A SLUMBER DID MY SPIRIT SEALl - By William Wordsworth
A slumber did my spirit seal;
I had no human fears:
She seemed a thing that could not feel
The touch of earthly years.
No motion has she now, no force;
She neither hears nor sees;
Rolled round in earth's diurnal course,
With rocks, and stones, and trees.
After a few chilly hours, you get some where cozy and warming, we have all, i think, been here, and you could quite easily drift off into sleep, our mind becomes like a bird in flight, drifting and soaring........... into our imagination and Zzzzzzz.
For those of you who cannot see the bird, i have hi-lighted it, run you cursor over the image, thank you for looking.

Sailboats slumber as the summer sun sets.
While walking along the marina of Aylmer, Quebec I was pleased to see so many sailboats. I loved being on the sailboat at night when we anchored our own boat in calm waters. Soon these boats will be cradled on land again. Enjoy the warm temperatures while you can.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Deliberately choosing an angle that anonymises my subject and making the most of the lead-in lines of the composition. Sleeping in a dank corner of the city streets. Enjoy full screen by pressing 'L' or clicking on the image.

I remember the first time I saw the icy wilderness of Greenland. I was 14, on my first trans-Atlantic flight. During take off in the night we were told to close our window shades so everyone could keep sleeping as we flew toward the sun. Hours later, as passengers started to wake, I couldn't wait any longer and raised my shade an inch. Then another. Then the flight attendant briskly told me to close it. I was so disappointed, I wanted to see outside! But thankfully a few minutes later, everyone started opening the shades, and the attendants gave up. I threw mine open all the way, and gaped at the icy wonder outside. An island of ice so thick its mountain tops barely peak through, and often never do. I suddenly had so many thoughts! How many of these peaks have never felt human footsteps? Does anything live in such a wild place? What secrets slumber beneath the icy surface?
I'm still left in awe every time I witness this wilderness.
Once, there was a way to get back homeward
Once, there was a way to get back home
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.
Thanks to John & Paul for helping me carry that weight!

Fyero was napping so sweetly this afternoon and I tried to get a photo of her so peaceful, but just the removal of my lens cap disturbed her and suddenly she was awake to give me and my camera a cranky look.
Standard with her. She's not a fan of me trying to get nice photos of her and is probably my most difficult model.
Honestly, toddlers cooperate better. But that's okay, she's a sweetheart anyway.
Hope everyone has had a good Caturday!

A 40-foot Rock Island boxcar, along with a a pair of 50-foot Santa Fe plug-door boxcars (one not visible located behind these two), ended up being pretty nice storage units for someone at Slapout, Oklahoma, as seen on May 20, 2015. Just looked on Google Maps, and it looks like the cars are now gone…
My birthday is September 14. I invited a few friends over to have a slumber party. These two are both from my school called C.K. Burns School. Andrea, the one on the left, is in a different class but she's on my bus and at my bus stop. Hailey (middle) is in my multi-age class in third grade room 7. We stayed up until midnight and watched four movies.

The wind was warm on my cheek. The morning chorus echoed in the valley below in a song that lasted for miles. I was watching the world turn. I saw the earth wake from its slumber to the light of a star.
