I've been on a huge vintage slip/nightgown kick for a very long time now. Not only are they comfortable and lovely to sleep in, they are a wonderful way to add length to a skirt or dress. The more vintage ones are especially beautiful, because they have the most lace detail at the bottoms. There is only a small fraction pictured here- I just can't seem to stop myself from buying them, due to me convincing myself that one lace detail is completely different from the last. As if anyone would notice such a thing, other than myself!
These slips can come in almost any color edging and can also be worn as nightgowns. Very cute crisscross in the back. These have lace on the colar, arm edges, and along the bottom. The waist is elastic lace and makes the slip fit just right and very comfortably on the child.

H4+ is a joint effort by UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, WHO and the World Bank, governments and civil societies of 36 countries with high burdens of reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child mortality and morbidity. In each country, H4+, Ministry of Health officials and partners team up to address the reproductive maternal, newborn and child health issues and help coordinate support for national maternal and newborn health policies and plans. In 20 of 36 countries, Canada, Sida, France and Johnson & Johnson provided key funding to support this collaborative work. The H4+ serves as the lead technical partners for the UN Secretary-General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health and the subsequent Every Woman Every Child movement.

The last light slips across the water, catching the curve of the shoreline, as the waves fold gently back toward the sea. I was drawn to the way the moss-covered breakwater cuts through the scene, like a painter’s brushstroke dividing texture from reflection. On one side: soft sand and sky-glow. On the other: deep green and black, slick with moss and time.
This image is about subtle movement and fleeting light. The kind of composition that only works when the elements line up: a receding wave, a softened horizon, a moment where the day lets go.
So I have a new project! I am working on a Queen-sized contemporary bed and bedding. The bed is an inverted mahogany letter tray, the mattress is foam covered in white muslin, and I've made two bed pillows and two matching brown pillow slips. Next up is the comforter! Since I don't have a sewing machine, I'm doing it all by hand--which is all I can do right now because I'm having workmen at my place and the doll desk where I do most of my work is currently buried.

Just past the treeline is a secret space, where the pines cast shade and wild roses mask the world outside. It's gone quiet, and dry underfoot, summer settled in for a week of blistering weather. I think I'm wrapped up in a weird kind of wonder, what's going on down here has a universe of it's own. I start imagining mythical creatures, pushing past the brush and branches, waking up when no one's watching. That's me in times like these, hiding out from the midday sun until evening comes along. The late light stretches to towers of shadows, softens the glare to a golden hue. Barefoot in the soft moss where everything stretches to the sky, and staying until our star slips behind the mountain. All this lies just feet from my back door.
