Slips 7a, b, c were over 150 metres high burying rail and reached the road. Around 240,000 cubic metres of debris was removed – the most of all the coastal slips.
Rail and road were realigned further out from the slip onto a new seawall. A 515 metre by 5 metre high gabion rock wall – the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere was contructed at the base of the hill. (Work underway on both structures shown here).
