I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves.
I keep my lamp lit, to warn the sailors on their way.
I'll tell a story, paint you a picture from my past.
I was so happy, but joy in this life seldom lasts. I had a keeper, he helped me warn the ships at sea.
We had grown closer, 'till his joy meant everything to me.
And he was to marry, a girl who shone with beauty and light.
And they loved each other,
And with me watched the sunsets into night.
And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea.
And the winds that blow remind me, Of what has been, and what can never be.
She'd had to leave us, my keeper he prayed for a safe return.
But when the night came, The weather to a raging storm had turned.
He watched her ship fight,
But in vain against the wild and terrible wind. In me so helpless, as dashed against the rock she met her end.
And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea.
And the winds that blow remind me, Of what has been, and what can never be.
Then on the next day, my keeper found her washed up on the shore. He kissed her cold face,
That they'd be together soon he'd swore.
I saw him crying, watched as he buried her in the sand.

This canal connects the North and South Marinas to Lake St. Clair. It's a busy route for summer boaters. All of the boat slips/docks/launches shown in this picture are privately owned. The public marinas are farther up the canal.
The near riverbank is Lake St. Clair Metropark; on the far riverbank are private homes.

mama in her jammies follows Chai up the stairs. first she checks the fire so that Boo stays warm the rest of the night. then the lights go off and Boo is given a good night kiss.
Chai is in bed and mama slips in too and she remains awake for a while. then they both settle down.
the daddy and Louie Louie and Marina in the downstairs bedroom heard nothing. a modern miracle. Nellie stayed upstairs on the couch.
then about 2 am it got quiet again.

I gave a little last month through CNN; this month I gave through ActBlue. I can't afford much but I can afford some. we are so much better off than the people struggling there.
I think even a little bit would help if everyone contributed.

〠 It was too cute, I couldn’t help but press the shutter button. You can admire many interesting and colorful buildings dating from the late 18th century and the 19th century in the Centro Habana district. Many are worn by time and many are under renovation. But the fact remains that they are fascinating and a visit is a must ... on foot, of course !
〠 C’était trop mignon, je n’ai pu m’empêcher d’appuyer sur le déclencheur. On peut admirer de nombreux bâtiments intéressants et colorés datant de la fin du 18ème siècle et du 19ème siècle dans le quartier Centro Habana. Beaucoup sont usés par le temps et beaucoup sont en cours de rénovation. Mais le fait demeure qu'ils sont fascinants et une visite s’impose ... à pied, bien sûr !

Autumn slips in very gently. One day its warm summer then early one morning there's a chill in the air and we know Autumns arrived. We also know this because we get acorns.
Acorns are technically a fruit because they have a seed but they also have hard shells so they're classified as nuts. Perhaps there should be some sort of hybrid term for them?? Dunno!
The light, between it now slips
Inside natures waiting lips
Making her water, shine so bright
With beauty of the light
That dances, softly on her lake
Making the waves rise and break
Between her lips, so moist and tender
That my sun does passionately enter
The sun slips below Glacier's Boulder Ridge. with a wee window on Lake Sherburne between the fall foliage.
This is some of the beauty one enjoys as you approach the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park.
