?? .. (what?)... oh, ok... an "enhanced" red bloom slips by...

Some of my best slips on show.

it all slips by so fast but i don’t know if i should be trying to take photos or not. i forgot to take photos of ten million beautiful moments recently. a lot of really cool graffiti that i forgot to take pictures of too. when i die one day i hope that i get to see a lot of the stuff that i saw when i was alive again. but i don’t know if pictures can really capture what’s so beautiful about real life. so, what’s the point anyway? a lot of my favorite photos to see are just personal documents. i guess pain is not usually the intention of a photo but sometimes it’s like that’s all i got. the can be so painful it’s almost like they’re dangerous or sharp and you get scared of them and maybe even avoid looking at them. maybe you want them to go away forever so they cant hurt you. but then you realize it’s ok because you can look at the past and cherish or laugh or cry but never hold on too hard or judge unfairly or run away. i think im gonna start taking pictures again. i got a roll of film to develop (but i lost three precious undeveloped rolls and two cameras. so maybe that’s why i’ve been so discouraged about the whole idea of this shit) and i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t a little scared to see what’s on there. i won’t make all those private photos public but some of them might have graffiti on them and they might make you or me laugh. a photo of graffiti has yet to make me cry but i could see that happening soon. ok sorry now i’m don’t with this egotistical rant, i’m sorry if you’re reading this and ur like damn i just wasted my precious time reading this nonsense on flickr. but you should be questioning why you’re even looking at my shit really or anything so good on ya. but anywho, i need to go to bed so i can go to my new job making sandwiches tomorrow, and it’s gonna be -9 Fahrenheit. ima try to take a selfie in the kitchen tomorrow. my last photo uploaded on flickr will be a screenshot of a pdf of an essay on my real feelings about all of you , human history, and my predictions for all of our lives.

FLYING BANANA - SLIPS UP

Seen at Burgs Lane Bayston Hill are Network Rail HST class 43013 "Mark Carne MBE" and ex Cross Country 43321 power cars with the now 85 minutes late Derby RTC (Network Rail) to Newport and return via the Marches Line, Test and Measurement train. On the return leg 43013 suffered a power failure and was put into Panteg loop for inspection before finally being allowed to continue with 43321 only now providing the power

The calendar says it's 1955 and on page 269 of the current Alden's catalog, it shows a beautiful navy blue acetate taffeta full slip with a gorgeous three tiered skirt. Just the thing I need under my taffeta dresses for that heavenly feeling and that heavenly sound.

Todo board for the slip method

A magnet board made from an old picture frame and some weathered galvanised steel. The action slips are arranged in context groups, e.g. 'dry weather', 'daytime', 'neutral' etc. with symbol and code magnets giving further information, and identifying the actions on the time graph to the right.

The advantage of writing a todo list on individual slips is the flexibility of being able to rearrange them, and move the slips to wherever they may be needed at any given time, e.g. from conception on the move to a project file, to the tickler, to the todo board, and maybe to a portable mini folder/wallet as a reminder when on the go, and perhaps back into the tickler for rescheduling. When the job is done, the slip is removed and the integrety of the list retained. The slip can also have additional, possibly dynamic information added to it, like context or symbols for importance, effort , concentration or time required, or any other criteria.

photo taken at a place i lived at in Northern, CA. My dog Drina was buried where Stephan used to stand. I have him with me. He was in many group shows including a "homeless' themes show...where he lived on the streets of Sacramento CA for some time in a cardboard shelter i also made. he went to live with a poet, a writer, an architect .and eventually after his travels... he is once again living with me! I love having him around!

Summer slips slowly, and silently into the sunset of night. She whispers goodbye, and carries her colours like badges of honour.

Improved living standards, better healthcare, greater awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and taking regular exercise have led to more and more people enjoying life into their 80s and 90s. However older people, in particular the frail elderly, are one of the groups of our population most vulnerable to accidents, particularly in and around the home.

figures relating to A&E attendances after home accidents show that falls are by far the single largest cause of attendance.

The majority of accidents in the older age groups also involve women rather than men.

Many of the fatal and non-fatal accidents to older people are attributable wholly or in part to frailty and failing health. This can lead to failure or slowness to see and avoid risks. By drawing the attention of older people and their carers to danger spots and unsafe habits then accidents can be reduced.

Just a month or so and the slips will once again play host to the boat crowd. Racine Wisconsin.

It's funny how the days are flying when you have a deadline and so much to do . Luckily it's not sunny today so I won't be tempted by adders . This was a bit of beach detail from an afternoon when the sun blazed down while I was walking the beach. Funny How Time Slips Away is by Willie Nelson on my playlist.

Wiki quote. Volcanic activity in this area is fed by subduction off the coast of Oregon as the Juan de Fuca Plate slips below the North American Plate (see plate tectonics). Heat and compression generated by this movement has created a mountain chain topped by a series of volcanoes, which together are called the Cascade Range. The large volcanoes in the range are called the High Cascades. However, there are many other volcanoes in the range as well, most of which are much smaller.

About 400,000 years ago, Mount Mazama began its existence in much the same way as the other mountains of the High Cascades, as overlapping shield volcanoes. Over time, alternating layers of lava flows and pyroclastic flows built Mazama's overlapping cones until it reached about 11,000 feet (3,400 m) in height.

As the young stratovolcano grew, many smaller volcanoes and volcanic vents were built in the area of the park and just outside what are now the park's borders. Chief among these were cinder cones. Although the early examples are gone—cinder cones erode easily—there are at least 13 much younger cinder cones in the park, and at least another 11 or so outside its borders, that still retain their distinctive cinder cone appearance. There continues to be debate as to whether these minor volcanoes and vents were parasitic to Mazama's magma chamber and system or if they were related to background Oregon Cascade volcanism.

After a period of dormancy, Mazama became active again. Then, around 5700 BC, Mazama collapsed into itself during a tremendous volcanic eruption, losing 2,500 to 3,500 feet (760 to 1,070 m) in height. The eruption formed a large caldera that, depending on the prevailing climate, was filled in about 740 years, forming a beautiful lake with a deep blue hue, known today as Crater Lake.

There is a beauty, a lightness--like the lifting of a weight--and an easy cheerfulness about yellow flowers. I am attracted to them like "bees to honey." I did verify--bees are attracted to honey and anything sweet, by the way--it is not just an expression.

Up the road just a little bit from Colter Bay is Leek's Marina, Grand Teton National Park. Not much activity the day we were there, but like Colter Bay, there's a boat ramp. There are no docks other than these slips, but there are floats marking the spots to anchor your personal water craft. There's also a great pizzeria at the marina with views like the ones in this photo from inside and outside tables. Carry-out only this year, alas.

To the east of London, in the estuary of the river Medway, is the Chatham Dockyard, today a naval museum, but until the end of the 20th Century one of the main shipbuilding bases of the United Kingdom. As early as the Tudor era (16th century) shipyards were established, which were massively expanded until the maximum in the 19th century. Here, among many others, the famous HMS Victory, Nelson's ship at Trafalgar and still visitable today, was built.

Already in the 20th Century, Chatham Dockyard gradually stopped being a naval base and focused on the construction of iron ships. In fact, its last phase until 1968 was to build submarines; in 1984 it closed completely. The oldest part has been refurbished as a naval museum.

Here you can see the Nr. 3 Covered Slip, a covered dry dock. The roof, built in 1838, was at the time the largest wooden one in Europe. Next to it are several more covered slips, but already with iron structures.

Where did October go???

I hope it's been a good month for all of you. I promise to visit your streams in the coming days, to see what I've missed. I have lots of photos to post. Starting with this shot.

When I visit New York for business, I always try to sneak a day in on the front or back end for a day of trainwatching. One of my favorite spots is in Elizabeth, NJ. Not only is it easy to reach, but it's also on a beautiful S-curve. Here, a New York bound Northeast Regional train screams past. If I recall correctly, this train was a tad late.

Everything’s Better

A gentle breeze across the porch

Some noiseless, ninja cat slips by

Summer shadows, languidly

Bespeckle yard as sun climbs high

I just sit here thinking ‘bout

The summer days that lie ahead

The beach, the park, country drives

Those special words you said

You said, “Don’t eat the broccoli, skip the peas,

Everything’s better with bacon and cheese,

Always put ice cream on your choc’late brownies

And, don’t let the world get ya down

Don’t let the world get ya down”

You said, “Eat salt on your pizza, greasy burgers and fries,

Ya know, this little rule almost always applies

Eat your dessert first, it’ll make you wise,

Oh, and don’t let the world get you down,

Wear a smile, and never a frown,

Oh, don’t let the world get you down

This rockin’ chair’s my rocket ship

To carry me to other worlds

It lulls me into dreamy sleep

Rock this porch with me, girl.

Some neighbour starts to mow his grass

Ahh, smell the green of fresh cut lawn

I’m hopin’ that this moment lasts

As I drift in idle abstraction

You say, “Don’t eat the broccoli, skip the peas,

Everything’s better with bacon and cheese,

Always put ice cream on your choc’late brownies

And, don’t let the world get ya down

Don’t let the world get ya down”

You said, “Eat salt on your pizza, greasy burgers and fries,

Ya know, this little rule almost always applies

Eat your dessert first, it’ll make you wise,

Oh, and don’t let the world get you down,

Wear a smile, and never a frown,

Oh, don’t let the world get you down
