"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence..."

The comings and goings on the corner of Church Street and Shoreham High Street. 3 buses, cars passing and turning in and the nicely lit record shop helped create the image.

My monthly shot using this technique.

Didn't notice when i shot the scene but how many faces can you see in the concrete. Lost souls?

Good-bye 'little one'.

We'll miss you! This song says it perfectly...

Slip Sliding Away (8770)

~~~~~
Imagine walking carefully on a flat white valley floor completely aglow from the light of a full moon on a whisper-quiet evening. That is Racetrack Playa in Death Valley N.P., CA, far from anywhere, and utterly enchanting. For the longest time, none of us were sure these mysterious stones left these tracks while sliding across the parched desert floor. Although we know now, it's still magical.
I met up with my friend Lance Keimig (National Parks At Night) and a beautiful group of people in DVNP. We went out late nights to photograph the amazing sites. This was my last photo of the evening, as it was cold and others had retreated to the car or were packing up. I knew I didn't have enough time for star trails, so I set the camera to a shorter exposure. I ran around, illuminating the rock and the flat white ground with white and red light from my handheld flashlight while the tripod-mounted camera shutter remained open. Thanks, and feel free to share!
As it maneuvers through the dense thicket, its large hooves make minimal noise against the forest floor, displaying a remarkable agility for its size. Its senses are keen, ears swiveling to catch any rustle or snap of a twig, while its keen eyes scan the surroundings for any sign of danger or opportunity.
Just had to show this slip off, but I think I went a little too far.
Have a nice Sunday!
To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world. ~ Freya Stark
On the drive home from work I was compelled to take a few shots. After flying 1.7 hours and having a 30 mile view of this beautiful country I had to document some of it..
From last spring, finding this spot required a combination of interweb searching for the legal trails, bouldering down hills in the rain, avoiding poison oak and snakes... but sometimes as crazy as that might sound, I’d do it again in a second for the peacefulness of that blue water.
Wet rocks are SUPER slick. One wrong step and you're sitting down.
Might want to see this one LARGE!
Slipping and sliding is what it took to get this image. I had 6 falls, about 5 close calls, got a sprained thumb from one of the six falls, a wind burnt face from the 30mph freezing cold winds and one frozen foot to get this shot. It was worth it and would do it again. Hope everyone is have a great week, looks like the snow is finally coming, and I guess it will be a while before we see frozen lakes again. Thanks for the visit.
