This week’s theme for my 52 project is “Food.” I was originally trying to think of something elaborate to photograph for the theme. I ultimately ended up going with simple macro shots. This is my alternate — sliced tomatoes. I cut these up to make a sandwich, but took pictures of them first. This shot was taken with natural light.

This image was obtained with a flatbed scanner at high resolution and expressed as a colour negative image.

These mushrooms a delicious to eat, especially when fried in butter with cherry tomatoes and a little lemon juice! A rich umami flavour.

I wanted to do something different and tried a tutorial by Lynne Tyler.

I loved the contrast of the two painted walls and the wooden door - for once I composed well to begin with rather than editing afterwards! More photos from our holiday in Portugal earlier this year...I think my addiction to urban images shows!

I'm very curious about how people use these photos. Let me know in the comments!

Macro Mondays - Divided

Hard to keep the tears at bay when dividing an onion, sniff...

My wonderful hubby slicing tomatoes for dinner.

A quick shot of a sliced tomato before it got placed in a sandwich and gobbled up! :)

See the juiciness large on black!!

I recently saw a photo that had an apple that had been sliced and hung to be displayed like a fruity slinky. I tried to replicate this with a thick slice, but the apple was too brittle it broke. A thinner slice is what you see here. And yes, it is ONE long slice! The problem here with this thin slice is that hanging such a thin slice will surely cause the slice to break. So, plan B - demonstrate this on a plate, where it is not hanging and may break.

This is one of two images I am submitting for this week's Macro Mondays theme of "FRUIT." And for you doubters, look at the actual size of this image to see that it IS larger than life.

You can see a few similar shots, here.

I got the idea for having the slice of lemon stand up from here.
