One evening in the early Union Pacific era, the Seattle to Los Angeles Z train came by our house in Klamath Falls with a solid set of Southern Pacific EMD power. I asked my wife if she would like to have dinner at the pizza parlor in Weed. When she answered affirmatively, we were off.
Our first shot of the train was at the US 97 grade crossing in Dorris, as it popped out of Tunnel 17. It's just a wedgie...

Alaska is, obviously, an extraordinarily hostile environment. The weather is frigid, the roads are coated in ice, and the wildlife can be dangerous. Cell phone service is not available between Fairbanks and Deadhorse and, even if you could summon assistance, the nearest professional help would often be hours away. In this setting, even small mistakes can be extremely costly.The frigid temperatures of the far north will take a toll not only on you, but on your equipment. Bay bridge and a sleepless city, San Francisco. Here I captured energy conveyed through this bridge to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It recorded the hustling and bustling traffic flow over the bay bridge and the night light of the city where the energy is conveyed to. This is the city we all left our hearts in, once, twice, ..., many times, in every trips and in all memories. San Francisco, a city never sleep.
The POV is at Treasure Island, a place I have left many hearts. I first visited it in a dancing party event at the then Navy Officer Club in about 25 yrs ago, and since then it has become a routine stop in all my trips to SFO. Time flows, memories shine and faded but cityview stays.

This was shot this morning when there were still small fires in the surrounding mountains.
These homes were saved from the fire of November 14-17, 2008.
Just behind me is a beautiful house that was saved by the reliable firemen. The trees in the vicinity were burned.
Check my Oakridge Mobile Home Park Fire set for pictures of the devastation of about 500 family homes in Sylmar, California.
There are days I sleeplessly embrace something I can’t define. Like a dark shadow in the forest under moonlight; I can’t make out the details but I accept it and continue to move forward. Its an acceptance of fear, or more an acknowledgement, the understanding that some things you just can’t control. Despite the grasp fear can have over me, I find like many things the progression of time dissolves its claw-like grip. Though I don’t understand every element forging my circumstances, simply moving forward is all I can do to overcome the night.
